The staff at this historic hotel, perfectly located in the very heart of Hobart, were very helpful - but the room wasn't cleaned properly until the day the manager did it himself. This hotel isn't up to the usual HotelClub standard; we didn't mind the very small room, but the street noise from the taxi rank outside at night and the street cleaning early in the morning was a problem. We didn't like taking breakfast in the pub with the early morning drinkers and gamblers, but we were enjoying a complimentary cooked breakfast which made a good start to the day.

Hotel well located with reasonable sized room, ideal if only using hotel as a base. Breakfast was nice and was included in the price of $89 for 2. On the night we stayed there was a private function which meant the only place within the hotel to bring our friends back for drinks, was the gaming room, so we went to another hotel for drinks and dinner. A smoke machine used during the private function set the smoke detectors off so we had the alarm going in our room for about half an hour which was really annoying at 11pm. We called reception to report the alarm but they already knew and told us they were trying to turn it off. No one apologized for the disruption.
