Really beautiful exterior, and in a pretty good location. Inside was ok, an room was rather small and cramped but decent place to spend the night

It was $50 per night so you don't have very high expectations. It wasn't great. There were always homeless people outside of our room, the shower (which was just a showerhead coming out of the wall onto the bathroom floor) didn't drain so we had 3 inches of standing water. On the plus side, the staff was very nice.

Met my expectations. Spartan room, shared toilet, wifi in lobby ONLY. If you're looking for place to spend the night, this might be a good choice. Exercise caution in the neighborhood though.

I booked this hotel cause it was central and to be honest cheap.Based on the price that I paid and some of the reviews I read I wasnt expecting too much. I was pleasantly surprised. It far exceeded any expectations I had.Beautiful reception area, like out of a 5 star hotel.Pleasant helpful staff. My room was cleaned every day.I liked the security aspect of like an old style hotel dick in reception who asked to see your key before you could get in the lift.Handy location for transport to anywhere in LA.Would definitely stay there again if and when I am in LA again. The only thing I'd say is if you want ensuite then maybe this hotel is not for you, cause I didnt have that, but there were at least 3 shower/bathrooms on my floor and they were always available. My top tip when paying for anything is does something represent value for money, and this hotel was excellent value for money(£163 for 1 week) in central Los Angeles!

Note that I stayed in a "cheap" room so I am critiquing one of their "simple" accommodations. The room itself has a bed, some drawers, with a TV atop them, a lamp on a lamp stand and a sink. That's it. No closet, no bathroom. For a toilet, you hike down the hall - and there is no sink in the toilet. No one can wash up after using the toilet except by using all the door knobs and locks between the toilet and their room. The dorm room experience of using the public toilets and showers was novel but tolerable. If you're on the top floor you will find NO water pressure. The majority of the staff is unhappy and unhurried. Some will be pleasant at times but mostly they seem to be doing a job in which they don't feel vested. Few of them have the attitude that you are a guest whose comfort they would like to assure. My stay was 4 nights and I saw a broad sampling of the staff. The hotel in general is a building that was well made and has a good deal of charm. It is beginning to show its age and isn't maintained perfectly but it is clean and safe. I would recommend this place for someone who is not particular about staff attitudes and don't mind some inconveniences to save money. I was satisfied because I got what I needed.
