The staff were really nice and helpful and it is really well located. But the big inconvenient was the bed so uncomfortable that was not possible for us to sleep the first night.

It was $50 per night so you don't have very high expectations. It wasn't great. There were always homeless people outside of our room, the shower (which was just a showerhead coming out of the wall onto the bathroom floor) didn't drain so we had 3 inches of standing water. On the plus side, the staff was very nice.

Met my expectations. Spartan room, shared toilet, wifi in lobby ONLY. If you're looking for place to spend the night, this might be a good choice. Exercise caution in the neighborhood though.

I booked this hotel cause it was central and to be honest cheap.Based on the price that I paid and some of the reviews I read I wasnt expecting too much. I was pleasantly surprised. It far exceeded any expectations I had.Beautiful reception area, like out of a 5 star hotel.Pleasant helpful staff. My room was cleaned every day.I liked the security aspect of like an old style hotel dick in reception who asked to see your key before you could get in the lift.Handy location for transport to anywhere in LA.Would definitely stay there again if and when I am in LA again. The only thing I'd say is if you want ensuite then maybe this hotel is not for you, cause I didnt have that, but there were at least 3 shower/bathrooms on my floor and they were always available. My top tip when paying for anything is does something represent value for money, and this hotel was excellent value for money(£163 for 1 week) in central Los Angeles!

Note that I stayed in a "cheap" room so I am critiquing one of their "simple" accommodations. The room itself has a bed, some drawers, with a TV atop them, a lamp on a lamp stand and a sink. That's it. No closet, no bathroom. For a toilet, you hike down the hall - and there is no sink in the toilet. No one can wash up after using the toilet except by using all the door knobs and locks between the toilet and their room. The dorm room experience of using the public toilets and showers was novel but tolerable. If you're on the top floor you will find NO water pressure. The majority of the staff is unhappy and unhurried. Some will be pleasant at times but mostly they seem to be doing a job in which they don't feel vested. Few of them have the attitude that you are a guest whose comfort they would like to assure. My stay was 4 nights and I saw a broad sampling of the staff. The hotel in general is a building that was well made and has a good deal of charm. It is beginning to show its age and isn't maintained perfectly but it is clean and safe. I would recommend this place for someone who is not particular about staff attitudes and don't mind some inconveniences to save money. I was satisfied because I got what I needed.

if you are looking for great service than this is not the place for you. However if you are looking for a great deal, than this is it. for a little over $60 bucks a night and in the heart of la this is a great deal. save your $ and use it everywhere else! there are many shops and food places in the area.

I really hope someone will read this before getting a room. THIS IS A HOSTEL not a hotel!! That means you DON'T have your own bathroom or shower. It's really beautiful when you walk in but look out when you get in the room. There is NO AIR, in the rooms, so you have to open the window and hear the sirens and it was still HOT!. The room smelled like urine because I think people had been using the little sink they had in the room as a toilet. There's no parking so you have to pay at one of the parking lots, a minimum of two blocks away, which requires you to pay each time you go in and out. The beds were basically worn out. There were cheap door locks, that worried you, that someone might break in, furniture, what little there was, was old, etc.... Your better off spending a few more dollars elsewhere.

Staff was very nice and the Lobby looked decent. But rooms are not great. $75/night is too much for rooms that look like that. But if you stay few hours in your room and a tourist then this is an economy option. So an OK rating from me.

I checked into my room and immediately noticed NO electrical outlets - I asked the clerk for a room with electrical outlets and they told me there were none. [...] I went back to my room to pack and found that a hotel person had entered the room and went through my things. I reported to the clerk and security - still no refund! Don't Stay at this hotel - especially if you are disabled!!!!

This hotel was a really bad choice, first o all you have to find parking on your own and it will cost. The hotel was in somewhat bad shape, they gave me the wrong bed, asked for a queen and i ended up getting a full size

Location is good, considering the price you pay at the downtown area. 8mins walk to 7th street metro which you can take train to union station and Hollywood. Close to the staples center if you are watching basketball or ice hockey. Not too safe a location thou as it's few block away from homeless mission. So do expect a few homeless people loitering around the corner. Hotel room is clean, however there is a oldish smell and the bathroom sometimes does not have hot water. Good thing thou is the hotel condition is clean. There is free Internet in the lobby area.

Hotel was undergoing renovations during my stay in Oct., 2008. The presentation of the foyer and hotel staff attitude was very good. Showers and bathrooms were old and below standard but were subject to the upgrade / renovations. The area after dark saw large groups of people, of shady appearance, hanging around the corners everywhere, but kept to themselves. The area during the day was good, handy to downtown and transport. Room was clean. This hotel is value for money.
