Catalonia Royal Bavaro Adults Only - All Inclusive Guest Reviews
As an introduction of sorts, Catalonia has two resorts- a family style side, and an Adults Only- both of which are all inclusive. The family resort didn’t look like the rooms were nearly as nice, and the pool area was far more run down than the adults only side. The Adults Only resort appeared to be much newer, and kept in much better condition. When you check in, the front desk person puts a bracelet on you. The color of the bracelet identifies which resort you are staying at. People staying on the Adults Only side are able to utilize both resorts… and walk freely back and forth between the two, for activities, food, or just to explore. People staying at the family resort, however, are not permitted on the Adults Only side. In other words, if you stay on the Adults Only side, yes, you will pay a little more, but your room will be nicer, the pools you have access to are nicer, you have free internet access, and you have more restaurant options. To keep my review orderly, I will divide it into sections: ARRIVAL- Our airport shuttle we'd booked with our vacation package dropped us off at the entrance to the rather dimly lit lobby after our 20 minute ride from the airport. CHECK IN- The bell boys were very attentive and waited with our bags while we checked in. We arrived almost 3 hours before the standard check-in time, but to our surprise, our room was ready for us as soon as we got there. While the front desk staff prepared our room cards, a server came to offer us each a fruit punch/smoothie/champagne type drink. The gesture was nice, but the flavor was downright strange. Perhaps I should have known that this mystery concoction was foreshadowing of things to come. ROOM- When I booked the trip back in May I had called the hotel to make certain requests regarding our room. 1) Close to the beach 2) On the top floor- which in this case is the third floor 3) Away from the stairwell- to ensure peace and quiet 4) No down pillows- because I am allergic to feathers 5) No flowers in the room- because previous reviewers had mentioned that the flowers were full of bugs. Upon arriving at our "deluxe junior suite" we were happy to find that we were relatively close to the beach (building 38- which is the second closest building to the beach), we were indeed on the top floor, HOWEVER, our door opened directly to the stairwell, four out of six pillows were made of down, there were flowers COVERED IN LIVE BUGS strategically placed around the entire room, and as an added bonus, after we began to unpack, we discovered that the room was also INFESTED WITH BABY COCKROACHES. At this point we’d already had room service come to change out all of our pillows for ones without feathers. As a side note, shortly after arriving the smell of raw sewage began emanating from the area right inside our door. Before I continue, I should mention that at first glance, aside from its lack of sunlight and poor lighting overall, the room looked beautiful, clean, and modern. However, as soon as we saw the cockroaches and ants walking along the floors, walls, bathtub, and towels, we called the front desk to request a different room. Though the front desk quickly obliged, and moved us to building 36 (the building closest to the beach) after I declined to accept the offer to move to another room right next door to our infested room, they were far from surprised or apologetic about the infestation. Thankfully our new room in building 36 was bug (and odor) free, but once again, we had to call for room service to come change all of our pillows. When I made this call, they asked if they could bring the pillows from our previous room since "the hotel was very full and there may not be new pillows to bring". I let the person know that I did not want our old pillows because I didn’t want to bring the ants and cockroaches from our infested room to our new clean room. Approximately 30 minutes later room service arrived with our “new” pillows… though I suspect that our “new”

Although all inclusive, tipping a few dollars goes a long way. The glasses get bigger and the staff become more attendant. Regardless, they are all incredibly polite and helpful. The food and restaurants on the adults only side are superb. Avoid the restaurants where children are allowed, the quality is less than the adult side. I was able to negotiate an upgrade price to the rooms with the private pool upon my arrival which is well worth it. Waking up to room service and champagne sitting outside by your private pool is an amazing experience and close to the beach.

Not bad for the price. Decent food and okay entertainment.

If you request royal catalonia you will be down graded when you get there. It is a total scam. You pay for a good room and get an old room with poor plumbing. They place they put you is where the nitely "music" is so loud, until 12:30 am. that your bed shakes. The food is poor, dogs barking at 3:00 am. They accept american money, but have every countries flag flying except the american flag. If this is the first place you visit, you will never again to Pinta Cana.

Me and my wife recently returned from this resort. Wonderful people and service. The food for the most part was very good, and they kept the drinks flowing. Very clean, large room. Nice pools and amenities, grounds were beautiful (especially at night). Would go back in a heartbeat, no other resort came close for the money you pay to stay here (We've been to two other very nice resorts in the past two years). Not everyone can be 100% pleased, but we had no issues with this resort, ultimate relaxation! Tip: for what it's worth, updgrade to the next level "deluxe room" if possible. A little nicer, larger, newer, and closer to the beach.
