Castiglione Hotel Paris Guest Reviews

I've traveled globally and have NEVER had such a horrible, nightmare experience as I did at the Hotel de Castiglione. HOW this is rated 4-star is a mystery; as I would barely rate it 1-star. After moving out of my first room (TV and lamps broken, the toilet never stopped running, sink did not drain, street noise unbearable, room decor embarrassingly beat, matress and pillows gross)... my second room was NO better! The 7th floor 'box' (rm 706) smelled from bathroom mold...which became imbedded in the carpet and interior of the clothes closet. My clothing needed to be washed and or dry cleaned upon my return to get rid of the mold smell. Further, the room smell was so problematic that I lost several nights sleep due to allergic responses from the mold and dust. The vents were COATED with layers (years!) of dust. There was NO internet in the rooms and even for several days, the 'guest computer' was out of service. Since I was in Paris for work, this added a layer of complicatons since I could not access e-mails to attend to business. A portion of the hotel was under construction and the noise, starting at 7am, plus worker traffic was crazy. After such a dreadful stay, I was never so happy to leave Paris (my most favorite city where I had lived there for 12 years prior!) To sum it up, "Worst hotel I ever stayed in." 4-star, Really?!

Hoel is right across from many Embassies and just down the street from Flag Store fashion designers. Because of the Embassies there is a strong police presence and a safe feeling when walking to resturaunts. Unfortunatelly the room had a shower that was partially renovated so the shower door was partially missing and the tiles were broken (shower still worked). Door handle/key reader was also in a state of disrepair so it took a few tries to get the handle to actually open the door. Overall the hotel was in decent shape so I think these might have been abnormal items, but they were obvious problems that hadn't been fixed. Altogether the hotel is a good value but I'd put it at a 3 star level. Good for a buisness trip, good if you want the safe area, if you want some nightlife - I'd pick a different area.

This hotel is extremely well located in a street with many embassies and fashion houses. It was great to be able to walk to a number of places of interest, even the Louvre. We arrived on a early flight and appreciated being allowed to check in at 11am. The staff were very courteous, the room was clean and quiet - we asked for one at the back of the hotel to escape the noise of construction on the street in front. The breakfast buffet was good value for 20 euros per person - a lot more to eat than the 7euro meal at a nearby cafe. However, a complimentary bottle of water in our room would have been nice. We walked to a corner store to buy Evian at a much more reasonable price than was available from the mini bar. I would certainly stay in this hotel again if I returned to Paris, especially at the price we paid for the room.

The location was great, we walked everywhere from the Hotel. The only problem would be the noisy street but we got used to that after a couple of nights. The staff were very nice and helpful.
