Its interesting that this Hotel calls its self 4 star, when writing the review I noticed that rates to go rates it as a 2 star hotel. I came here from a 3 star hotel in Vienna that was in all ways superior, not to mention being around 1/3 of the cost per night. When I checked in I was initially (for all of five mins) give a fantastic room, but a call from reception informed me that I was in the "wrong room" and quickly shown to another room - which was by most standards not what you would expect from a 4star hotel. It was in need of renovation (eg things falling off of the wall in the bathroom). I think it was a clean as it could be - which is a bonus. The location is great - but there is no view of anything other than building sites, but major attractions are within waling distance. My advice would be to find a better hotel, a metro stop or two way, the prices will be better, the rooms bigger ect. You might be lucky and get a nice room, or as I was unlucky! Good luck.

I've traveled globally and have NEVER had such a horrible, nightmare experience as I did at the Hotel de Castiglione. HOW this is rated 4-star is a mystery; as I would barely rate it 1-star. After moving out of my first room (TV and lamps broken, the toilet never stopped running, sink did not drain, street noise unbearable, room decor embarrassingly beat, matress and pillows gross)... my second room was NO better! The 7th floor 'box' (rm 706) smelled from bathroom mold...which became imbedded in the carpet and interior of the clothes closet. My clothing needed to be washed and or dry cleaned upon my return to get rid of the mold smell. Further, the room smell was so problematic that I lost several nights sleep due to allergic responses from the mold and dust. The vents were COATED with layers (years!) of dust. There was NO internet in the rooms and even for several days, the 'guest computer' was out of service. Since I was in Paris for work, this added a layer of complicatons since I could not access e-mails to attend to business. A portion of the hotel was under construction and the noise, starting at 7am, plus worker traffic was crazy. After such a dreadful stay, I was never so happy to leave Paris (my most favorite city where I had lived there for 12 years prior!) To sum it up, "Worst hotel I ever stayed in." 4-star, Really?!

Hoel is right across from many Embassies and just down the street from Flag Store fashion designers. Because of the Embassies there is a strong police presence and a safe feeling when walking to resturaunts. Unfortunatelly the room had a shower that was partially renovated so the shower door was partially missing and the tiles were broken (shower still worked). Door handle/key reader was also in a state of disrepair so it took a few tries to get the handle to actually open the door. Overall the hotel was in decent shape so I think these might have been abnormal items, but they were obvious problems that hadn't been fixed. Altogether the hotel is a good value but I'd put it at a 3 star level. Good for a buisness trip, good if you want the safe area, if you want some nightlife - I'd pick a different area.

This hotel is extremely well located in a street with many embassies and fashion houses. It was great to be able to walk to a number of places of interest, even the Louvre. We arrived on a early flight and appreciated being allowed to check in at 11am. The staff were very courteous, the room was clean and quiet - we asked for one at the back of the hotel to escape the noise of construction on the street in front. The breakfast buffet was good value for 20 euros per person - a lot more to eat than the 7euro meal at a nearby cafe. However, a complimentary bottle of water in our room would have been nice. We walked to a corner store to buy Evian at a much more reasonable price than was available from the mini bar. I would certainly stay in this hotel again if I returned to Paris, especially at the price we paid for the room.

The location was great, we walked everywhere from the Hotel. The only problem would be the noisy street but we got used to that after a couple of nights. The staff were very nice and helpful.

- very old, tired and small rooms - good people do your best to make your stay pleasant (our heating was broken and we were freezing on the first night) - amazing location - if that's your priority, reserve on this hotel

for the 3 days that I stayed at the hotel, the airconditioner broke down and the hotel put a fan in the room to help cool the summer heat. It was indeed terrible. Although the lady manager apologised by giving me a bottle of red wine, it did not make up for the discomfort caused.

Wifi internet 10€ for one hour very expensive and didn't work. You took your life in your hands to call the lift on 7th floor lift because the down button was missing! The hotel looked tired and clearly lived on its location. The staff made me feel I was lucky to have chosen their hotel.

Although the room itself was only partly renovated (tired furniture and not enough power points), the bathroom was brand new so all in all, acceptable at our (discounted) price. However I will not stay there again until the fee for WiFi connection is reduced. I had to pay 10 euro PER HOUR!!! Absolutely shocking, I could hire a BMW for that rate. The restaurant is overpriced as well, brasseries in the area are better. Try the wine bar on Place de la Madeleine, nice selection of wine by the glass and food

We had a brilliant stay at the Castiglione, staff are really polite and friendly with a great sense of humour. What the room lacked in size it certainly made up for with the vista. We had a room on the 7th floor that had a balcony and a spectacular view of the Palais Royale and the Tower. Hotel has great access to the fashion district and some nice cafe's and restaurants. Would have stayed longer but the prices for the room for Wednesday and Thursday nights was prohibitive. Great stay, loved it.

Hotel is ok, but somehow, I expected more. Room is not so big, bed unfortunately not so comfortable. But it is really in the center of Paris, good location. But, at the end, for the price you are paing, very ok.

Not quite sure where the 4* rating comes from. The entrance is dark and dusty, so was our room. The carpet was dirty and so was the bedsheet. The minibar fridge did not work, the bedside lamp neither. There were deep scratches on the bathroom door and the ceiling. The hotel should have been renovated several years ago. The only plus is the great location close to place de la Concorde!

A very nice hotel in the vicinities of the Elysee Palast. A little old but if you get a special rate it is worth while.
