Casa Munras Hotel & Spa
5 out of 5

We stayed as a treat for my partners 40th birthday whilst on our travels in California. We were not disappointed! Casa Munras was gorgeous, luxurious and relaxing. The room had a fireplace, lovely bathroom and MASSIVE comfy bed. Fantastic. A nice touch was when we came back to our room after a day out, the housekeeper had arranged the bed all fancy with the balloons displayed between the pillows! Nice surprise - made us smile :-) It was close to everything you need and would definitely stay again if we are lucky enough to return to Monterey. Thanks Casa Munras!! xx

The staff was really friendly when we checked in and out. Our room was comfortable and the location was great. Parking was a little crazy and we had to park pretty far from our room on Saturday night but the other days parking was fine. Overall we had a good stay and will definitely be back soon.

Casa Munras is a short drive from Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. It's also walking distance to Alvarado St, which has a lot of bars and small restaurants to check out. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Amenities were nice with a pool, fitness center, spa, and upscale casual restaurant on the premises. The unfortunate thing was that we came back to our room on the second day of our stay to find our bathtub was left with dirt inside. (Hence the 2 star rating on cleanliness). Not sure how it got there. We informed the front desk about this and they sent someone to clean the tub right away. In addition to this, the hotel manager offered a credit to their restaurant onsite. Kudos to the staff who are very attentive, listened, and took immediate action to make it right- hence the 4 star rating on staff. Overall, I would return to Casa Munras again, and would definitely recommend it to other to stay.

I go to Monterey Bay at least once a year. This is the 2nd time I've stayed at Casa Munras and will book again for all future trips. The entire hotel is inspired from an old Spanish hacienda. Each room as it's own separate entrance, so it feels homey and loading/unloading luggage from the car is a breeze. We got the King size bed with fireplace. The fireplace is gas and cute, but it really doesn't make a difference with heat. Overall, hotel is very clean and well kept. The staff is friendliest and most helpful people! They are eager to make your stay enjoyable. It's just nice to be around genuinely nice people on a get-away trip.

This was a family vacation (2 adults and 2 kids). The room was clean, quiet, and the beds were very comfortable, a rarity in hotels. The staff was super friendly. They have a small library with books and DVD's, complimentary "Spanish coffee" and a very nice lounge. The location couldn't be better. It was close to the wharf (10 mins walking) and plenty of restaurants.

My partner and I stayed here 3 nights. We generally stay at boutique hotels that are a step up from your average hotels. Casa Munras met our needs and provided good value with the Cozy Queen room. The bed was very comfortable with down pillowtop and comfy pillows. The bathroom was spacious with thick fluffy towels. We wanted extra pillows, towels, and hangers which the hotel staff accommodated. Our room didn't have a safe nor A/C, though there was heat and a ceiling fan. Our heater didn't work when we tried it but the staff was very helpful and able to fix it while we were out for the day. The walls were somewhat thin so i could hear people in the hallways and in their rooms if they were being loud. There was lack of ventilation fan and extra towel racks in the bathroom. The location was great for us as it was walkable to shopping and restaurants. (Tip: try Restaurant 1833 around the corner, it's amazingly good fine dining and cocktails) We liked the free self parking, since we had a rental car with us. The hotel's location is very central for quick drives Pacific Grove or Aquarium/Cannery Row, and also for longer trips to Carmel or Big Sur. All in all Casa Munras is a great value. If you are looking for a less expensive boutique-style hotel, then Casa Munras fits the bill as long as your expectations aren't too high.

The hotel was nice. It was cozy but not the 'cozy" that people say when they want to describe an old run down hotel. This place was cute and had a cozy vibe that was just what I was looking for. The location was great also. Our first night was on a tuesday and there was a farmers market going on in downtown which was only a few blocks down. Great location with walking distance to the wharf, aquarium, downtown, and also the fun historic monterrey that runs right along the neighborhood.

I have stayed here twice and consider it average. My room was clean, but my Aunts was not. She had ants crawling around. My room was located on the second floor and hers was on the first. She asked to change her sheets and clean the room, but they did not change the sheets. They offered to move her, but no rooms were availabe. They discounted her rate, but no enough in my opinion. Location is good, but cars parked in front of the rooms makes it very noisy. I will look at staying elsewhere next visit.

The room was great, modern, comfy, clean. Loved the L'Occitane bath products! Our only complaint is that the walls and windows are too thin, you can hear your neighbors' conversations. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and the food was average. The service, although friendly, unfortunately was VERY slow and inattentive even though the restaurant was nearly empty.

My husband and I stayed here over the weekend (Thursday and Friday night)because we were in town for a weekend. The hotel gets 1 star for proximity to where the wedding was. It would have gotten more stars if we paid $80 a night (and not $170). The lobby was nice, but the room was a stark contrast. Gross carpets and tile in the bathroom, thin walls, and just overall NOT GOOD. We got the cozy queen which apparently is somewhere between full and queen (closer to the full side). There was a coffee maker but they only had decaf. I am sure this is an ok place to stay during the off season, but when your forking over almost $200 a night for a hotel room, it shouldn't feel like a Motel 6.

Casa Munras has a nce location in downtown Monterey and is close enough to he Cannery Row area as well. Rooms are clean but be aware that a "cozy queen" room is quite cozy (small). Had a pleasant experience except for the fact that I had to spend time at the front desk while on the phone with my credit card company because the hotel computer decided to place a hold on the entire price of the room for two nights AFTER I had already paid two weeks ago [...]! Thought we had gotten it taken care of but then the same charge reappeared the next day. Not fun ad I had to reexplain the whole situation to someone else. A waste of some vacatiOn time. Other than that, the hotel was clean and the people pleasant.

Spa treatments were wonderful! Would like to have had a tub in the room. Great location! Would like to have had a wider selection of food choices in the restaurant. Especially for the American palette.

Great trip, close to great places to eat and shop within walking distance. Hotel friendly staff, clean rooms, great lounge and restaurant. The only bad thing is the rooms are very noisy, you can hear everyone around you, walls are very thin. Would stay again but, ask for a suite by itself, do not recommend downstairs and away from the pool area.

Great Location to Shopping and Dinning. And easy to take the tour bus to Cannary Row and the Warf. The hotel room was amazing. Had all the luxeries that made us feel rich without the cost of the rich. Nice people to work with. Just don't try the Mexican Restaurant down a coouple of blocks. Was the worst place we have EVER been into. But we had a great trip to Monterey. Would highly recommend and would love to return.

We stayed here for July 4th weekend and a continuation for me and my husband's birthday celebration. The hotel has a good vibe, warm staff, nice lobby, helpful receptionists, the place is clean, good size heated pool 3-9ft and is situated in the middle of all the attractions, everything is like 10 mins away from the hotel! The only reason I give a 3 star and not a 4 is because the walls are so thin that you can hear even the fart of your neighbors. It will be forever memorable for me because in the middle of the night my husband and I woke up because there was this woman who's screaming like crazy and I don't need to explain in further details what was that scream about. I thought after that incident that would be it, but no! It was around 4am in the morning when we hear another woman screaming (we know its a different one, because its not as loud as the first). I was just glad that we have no kids with us on that trip because it will be traumatic for them and for us too. I wish the property management can do something about this, because their place could be rated much higher and reviewed better if only this issue can be fixed.
