I booked this hotel thinking it would be nice since it's blocks from the Ritz Carlton. The lounge/lobby looks okay, but THE ROOM WAS HORRIBLE. It was tidy, but unclean. The snack bar refrigerator was stocked, BUT it was dirty and had not been wiped out. The door did not look secure because it's an OLD building. The window in the bathroom was definitely NOT SECURE--no lock. I ended up sleeping as if I were in a third world country with furniture pushed up against the door--both the entrance door and the bathroom door to give myself some piece of mind that I would not have a break in.

hotel management staff attempted to make up for the challenges created by a hotel that is much much too noisy and run down. but ultimately they have to work with a substandard property. business travelers be warned - the wifi only works in the lobby.

I checked in really late to miami, and they gave me a corner room on the first floor, but since I was staying few days they changed my room the following day. I got the corner room on the third floor, all the way in the back, farthest from the elevator, but had two windowed corner and a view of the pool. It was pretty neat. They play music way past midnight, but didn't really bother me. Cleanliness is okay, the building is kinda old but it's art deco, you know. Bathroom is not up to date modern, but gets the job done. The pool, proximity to the beach and convention center, Lincoln Rd and Espanola Rd is the best amenities, plus the esspresso bar.

The room had a musty smell and on closer inspection of the split system AC outlet grille there was a significant amount of black mold. So the filter on the inlet side probably had mold too. The hotel would be well served to have them ALL cleaned before someone gets sick.

This was the worse hotel experience I have ever had. The picture on the web site is not anything what the hotel looks like. When we arrived the air conditioning unit was leaking water all over our room. The bathroom stand collapsed and there was water damage on the window seal. The view was horrible and they charged us a extra $14.00 dollars of day for items we didn't use. Also, they never had enough towels. I will never stay at this hotel again. Worse expereince ever. Don't be fooled by the pics or what other people say. Not a nice hotel. Also, staff was rude. Hated this place and hate is a strong word.

The rooms are small, the hotel free breakfast was mediocre, the pool area could use some sprucing up along with the rest of the hotel. It just looks old, but all in all, it did the job of providing a roof and a bed, which is what my friends and I really needed it for. I don't suggest more than 3 people in the room though.

My experience @ the Carlton was one to forget. I paid for double Queen bed Deluxe room, and ended up sleeping in a 1 King bed BOX of a room w/my MALE cousin ALL weekend. The manager @ the Carlton said she would accomodate us somehow with another room before our trip was over, but NEVER did. I demand some type of REIMBURSEMENT because I did NOT get what I paid for!.

I had the worst experience at this hotel, upon check in we had hair all over the sheets and pillows, the carpet was nasty, we had 2 robes hanging up in the closet that had yellow stains on them as if they had pee on them without being washed, iI talked to the hotel manager, I got a full linen change and got my resort fees waived, too bad my hotel stay was paid for I prob woulda checked out and went somewhere esle, oh and our closet had a leaked in it. Overall I still had a good time and would not reccommend this hotel to anyone.

This is a party hotel -- no exceptions! Between the LOUD nightclub sound blasting in the lobby, to the screaming drunk locals letting you know how they feel from the street late into the night, this is a place for youngens to crash and sleep it off while the adults mop up after them later. The place is clean, and the workers earnest in their duties -- now if they could work on improving the customers ...

Well the whole time we were at the hotel we were greeted only by the concierge outside, probably because rave party that went on in out lobby & pool from 9am- 11pm... BLASTING horrifying music loud & I mean LOUD!!!! The nightclubs would've actually been peaceful compared to this hotel!!!!!!!!!! If you're looking to roll on ecstasy for 5 days this is your place!!! Also didn't get a chance to go swimming in our pool because it was so loud!!!!!!!!!!! Also despite this skill less DJ in a "hotel " lobby there was also heavy partying & loud cursing going on @ 3am in the pool, do since the rooms are located all around the pool, we got to listen to drunkenness till 5 am, called the front desk numerous times!!!! Oh & did I mention the domestic violence right outside our door!!!! Please don't waist your time or money into this hotel, unless u plan on staying away from there until 5am

My overall assesment of my stay at the Calton Hotel was a good experience. I felt that the staff was welcoming and accomadating. I arrived to Miami on a late flight to be welcomed by [...] who worked the desk upon my arrival. He insured that I was accomodated accordingly and even provided me with great places to eat. The hotel Calton was clean and comfortable. Location was excellent. I enjoyed my stay and would return.

The hotel staff was really not very helpful...we ask them for a simple wake-up call but they did not even do that and when the transport that we paid for in advance did not fetch us to go back to the airport we ask them to call a cab they told us to just walk outside!I just don,t think they went that xtra mile!

Basic infrastructure poor. The airconditioner in our room didnt work the first night. We informed the staff in the morning and they promised to have it fixed the second day. When we returned that night, it was the same, not fixed. The front office executive Maria, to whom we reported this, promised to send someone up to check the AC, but neither sent someone, nor informed her replacement, when she went off duty in 30 min. Fortunately, Anna, the new manager, helped us change our room. Same with wifi. The two days we stayed there, wifi wasnt working. The hotel staff kept saying they were trying to fix it, then nothing happened. The hotel eventually waived the resort fee when we were checking out, but the party had been spoilt by then already.
