Initially a lumber camp and a railroad settlement, Sudbury in Canada is now the biggest city of Northern Ontario. The city is surrounded by 300 fresh water lakes, making for some spectacular views. Several recreational spaces and parks make the city family-friendly. One of the most famous attractions for locals and tourists alike is the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area. Bell Park is another fabulous spot to spend time. It is located on Ramsey Lake and offers swimming and beaches right in the centre of the city. The Onaping Falls Geological Walking Tour is a 20-minute walk that takes you through the natural rock formations of the Sudbury Igneous Complex and around the Sudbury Basin. Sudbury Farmers Market, located in the Metro Centre, is a popular shopping destination with the freshest food and a wide variety of products. Science North & Dynamic Earth is a favourite destination for children, where they can play with snow, admire amazing collection of animals, and learn about weather conditions. Dinosaur Valley Miniature Golf offers a fun respite whilst testing your putting skills.
When To Go
Summer is the best time to visit because of the pleasant temperature during June through August. For visitors from hotter parts of the globe, Sudbury’s relatively cool summers offer a much-desired relief. The warmest months hit mid-20s Celsius (upper 70s Fahrenheit). The location is relatively dry for the most part, with late summer and early autumn often a bit rainier. Sudbury observes one of the chilliest winters in the world. The coldest month of January sometimes faces temperatures below 20°C (68°F). Unless you enjoy extreme cold climates, winter is not the best holiday season in Sudbury.

Getting There
Travelling to and around Sudbury is hassle-free. Transportation is never an issue when you are in this city, whether you are alone or with others. The Sudbury Airport in the town of Garson is located 24 km (14.9 miles) north of the city. The airport’s shuttle affords transportation service to and from your residence/hotel in Greater Sudbury at flat rates. VIA Rail is Canada’s railway network, providing transcontinental transportation between Halifax and Vancouver, as well as railway travel to far-off locations in Manitoba, Ontario, British Columbia and Québec. VIA Rail also provides bus connections from many locations that lack rail facilities.
Car rental companies include Murdoch Group Inc, Rent-A-Wreck Sudbury, Budget Sudbury, National Car Rental, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Avis Rent-A-Car.
Ontario Northern Railway serves remote locations in the region whilst VIA Rail serves major cities. Visit Moosonee by taking the Polar Bear Express.
