This is a bit of trip down memory lane , anyhow a group of 8 stayed with CCCR way back in 1985 during October 02-21st and it was an excellent place to stay then, its rather sobering to see that you have expanded quite a bit in the last 27 yrs which can only be due to the level of service you offer ,, well done ,,still have a plan too return there for a couple of weeks in the not too distant future Steve Douce

We were lucky as we were upgraded so excellent room with 2 King size beds and quiet area. With Large tropical plants & 2 pools makes a good Family holiday! Our only regret was the poor service at the pool cafe/Bar and closing at 8pm and the place was crowded with no notice of last minute drinks, Not good! and unfortunately has not changed since last time 2 months ago! The new menu at the Resturant was pretty good and enjoyed and good service here. I would recommend for families as it is affordable and the short distance from town puts this in a quiet area!

Met people who paid the same amount to stay in the youth hostel in Cairns as we paid for a hotel room. The complimentary continental breakfast included cold meats and cheeses and apples plus breads and juices and Japanese and Chinese items. Rooms were clean- not updated. Need to take taxi from airport- about $20 AUS. They book a lot of tours, and could use more help at the front desk- had to wait sometimes to be attended. Overall, however, a great value.

This was our third stay at the Cairns Colonial Club & unfortunately standards have gone down badly. Because the hotel is about 3kms outside town they ran a shuttle bus. Sadly this is no longer free and the shuttle does not run during the afternoon for 4 hours and is shared with another hotel. Also the pools are no longer heated and makes swimming impossible because they are so cold. The clientele is predominantly Japanese and they are extremely noisy with departures and arrivals at all hours of the day or night. The Classic Queen Rooms with a bath no longer exist and we were moved to a standard room with a shower. Overall we were disappointed with our stay and won't be back

When we arrived at the hotel they couldn't find our booking but the lady at the counter was very helpful and managed to get us in a room anyway and said that she'd sort the paperwork out later. We didn't realise how big the property was and the kids were so excited to see a playground and the pools. Would definitely stay there again and the room was clean and had everything you needed.

Room was old and needed to be refurnished, but facilities/pools (3) very good. I went with my daughter 6, and gave her the choice of attending the New Years activities and fireworks at the esplanade, but she preferred to stay in the pool at the hotel! Would need to travel into town, but there is a shuttle bus available. (For a cost) We live locally, so drove to the hotel.

Although some/much of the fixtures/fittings are now dated, particularly when compared with more modern/latterly built hotels, they all proved adequate. The staff, in particularly reception as we had most interaction with them, were excellent and extremely helpful/welcoming.

Value for money, it exceeded my expectations. The rooms were large but dated. The resort is spread out on a large block - expect to get lost (as I frequently did). It is located well away from the waterfront and the Cairns CBD, but a regular shuttle bus ($3 one way) operates throughout the day. It is also well located to the airport, so ideal for a transit stay. I would definitely stay again.

hi, we stayed here for 3 nights. room was musty smelling when we arrived but that cleared after a while.would have been nice to have a jug of cold water or some ice cubes in freezer on arrival at 1am as nowhere to get a cold drink. the grounds and pools here are stunning. absolutely loved the surroundings and so did my children. wouldnt hesitate to recommend to family and friends

I was intitialy placed in a old twin room. I was a single traveler and asked for a double. I was then placed into one of the newly decorated rooms, with all new facilites. My advice if you get placed in the old style rooms (and you will know it is) ask for a newly decorated room. The stay is so much better in one of the newer rooms. The price I paid of the website was approx 75 Aus dollars. When i later checked availibilty the price had increade to 120. get in early and pay the lower rate.

The resort was very nice and would be ideal for a longer visit to Cairns. I stayed only overnight on business so its location was not ideal for easy access to restaurants. Need to have a car however there appeared to be excellent transfer services available at the reception desk.
