Didnt book till the day of arrival as wasnt even sure where we were heading too . Id been told by a friend abou this Hotel and was not let downn by his recommendation. Myself and my South African girlfriend stayed for two days. Spot on Hotel, staff pukka and it was close enough to the centre literally a stones throw from it. Loved our time here and will defo use again when Im in Edi again. Recommended :)

It's an ok hotel, the location was very handy for my weekend. The toilet flushed, the shower was hot and the bed was amazingly comfy. If you're looking for luxury then this place isn't for you but for a place to sleep in peace and comfort then it could well be.

standard room - clean and functional, no complaints. however, it is in New Town area. if your interests are in the old town, it will be at least 20mins walk up a long slope.

When I arrived at the Cairn Hotel I was somewhat surprised to be told that the rooms were across the road in, what they called, "The Annex". The Annex smelled like a fusty old museum. My room was down a flight of steps so steep it would have given a moutaineer a nosebleed. The room was like an oven because the radiator was broken and on full power. The night receptionist was grumpy to the point of being rude and the bar was not very well stocked either. No coffee or tea was available in the bar for my non-drinking companion. We felt as welcome as a pork sausage at a bar mitzvah. Basically I would only recommend this place if every other hotel in Edinburgh was shut. Would I recommend this hotel to a friend? I wouldn't recommend this hotel to an enemy!

Good budget hotel in a great location, helpful and friendly staff, serviceable room with good bathroom making it an excellent base for being out and about in the city. We took our cat and had no problems whatsoever.

about 15 mts walk to city centre, 2 mts walk to busstop. Very friendly staff. The hotel looks very old . The rooms were clean and the beds where good breakfast was very simple and therefore a little bit expencive. The hotel is syuated in a quiet surrounding with alot of pubs and restaurants nearby.

The only things making this stay bearable were the very friendly & helpful staff & 20 min easy walk to the town centre. Were housed in hotel annex basement across from main hotel. Had to prop door closed with chair as wouldn't lock, very noisy & really hot due to location in basement. Unclean floors & furniture & very old, uncomfy beds. Dated hotel, but main part seemed clean & tidy. If staying, recommend ask for room in main hotel, not annex.

+ Great location near city centre and all major bus connections + Great Wi-Fi + Helpful staff who speaks understandable english + Nice to have water heater and some tea in room + Relatively very cheap - Soundproofing could be better - Window sealing needs improvement, althought heating works fine

I was just staying overnight for a business meeting in Ediburgh the next day. For that it was almost perfect: a slightly confusing 20-minute-ish walk to the train station but nonetheless close enough (and bus or cab would have been easy) and basic room with TV and internet access. Room was very small but had an old-fashioned charm about it and the price was very low. So having my own bathroom and all the basics made it good value. It is also off on a quiet side street and quiet at night and staff were very helpful.

Good clean hotel, good location in centre of edinburgh. Wi-fi good. A little noisy, but that didn't spoil my stay. I would book this hotel again for an inexpensive city centre stay.

The hotel room was cold and we told reception and nothing was done about it. The furnishings and carpet were very tired and stained and didn't look clean the shelf in the wardrobe area was uncovered chipboard. Good location 15 minutes walk from city centre.

I found this hotel to offer good value for money in a great location only 10 mins walk from Princes Street. Exactly what you would expect for the price. I wouldn't bother with breakfast as it's usually not included and isn't worth paying for.
