Britannia Hotel Birmingham
4 out of 5

Great city centre location, just steps from the Railway Station and ideal for shopping. A bit faded and worn, but nice, comfortable rooms with everything you could need and a pleasant place tp stay. Some noise from the street if your room faces this, but you can ask for a room facing the courtyard which is much quieter. Great value for its price.

The description says parking, but they offer the nearest NCP. The post code on the Sat Nav take you to the wrong side of New Street Station, and staff do not answer the phone to assist in finding the place. Lifts outdated hence prepare to wait ages to get up/down Clean and comfortable after you spend ages finding the place, and all you want is to rest your head

Good location next to station and shops, staff ok, room out of date, would only pay £40-50 for it. Did get to sleep and wasn't disturbed but you can hear everything, walls very thin, feels like thunder when someone shuts a window!

We got an excellent deal on price. We stayed at the hotel for a week. The location is perfect having the window facing the street was great because it let in a lot of light and a nice breeze. Was great to be able to open the window! Only downside is that its above a lot of foot traffic that goes all night. Over the weekend it was pretty bad due to the drunken fights we had to listen too at 4am however not the hotels fault. The location is brilliant for walking all over the city. The bullring is an easy 5min walk to and the bullring markets to buy fresh fruit was great.

This hotel is in a great central location but I arrived late and the bed was like a bunk bed mattress and I could feel everything I had to put a blanket underneath me and when that was no good I folded the quilt in half. I didn't sleep all night and I was working. So I do not recommend this hotel at all. It was grubby with no upkeep of general areas. The carpets in the halls were badly frayed and the paintwork was peeling and scratched and walls were dirty. Ok if you were 18 and partying all night. Give this a miss instead the ibis is good and cheaper

I booked a room for my parents who paid a short visit to Birmingham in June. The room was on the topfloor, clean and well equipped. However, the furniture was rather out of date and the bed was way too small for two people. All in all, I would recommend the hotel to everyone, whose standards are not very high and who is looking for a cheap and centrally located hotel in Birmingham!

Stayed here over night after New Order concert. Staff were friendly and helpfull. Hotel is situated in the middle of Birmingham, next to the Bullring and within walking distance of the two rail stations. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within a short walk. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with all you'd expect, ie bath, shower, tea/coffee facilities, T.V., hairdryer, trouser press. The only constructive criticism would be that a refurb of the rooms may be necessary sooner rather than later, BUT for the price I paid for a twin room for the night, this may be a little harsh!

We stayed overnight following a concert at the town hall(5 mins walk) as it worked out cheaper than getting a taxi home. Nice, plain room. Just the job!!

A little bit worn at the edges, but no complaints about the room facilities, the comfort of the bed, cleanliness or staff. All are great. In fact only thing that is frustrating are the two lifts -very slow and often only one working, causing long waits. But GREAT location for the railway station and central shopping area, and very good value for money.

Very good value for money for a hotel which is right in the centre of the city and only a couple of minutes walk from New Street train station. I did not have any meals at the hotel but there are plenty of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. Also very handy for department stores and shops.

Good showers (plenty of hot water, and great water pressure), great location, good staff. The room was a bit dark, even in the daytime (a standing lamp in the corner would have helped) but other than that it's a great place to stay. Does what it says on the tin.

Great staff, great location. Good showers with hot water and good water pressure. Good breakfast (but last time it was included in the price, this time we had to pay extra). Lifts didn't work, was a bit more expensive this time than the last time we stayed. but all in all would stay there again

An average hotel in a good location. Ok for overnight stay. Not luxury but clean with adequate bathroom. Noisy guests. Could use more TV channels.
