A picture says a thousand words, they say. The pictures of this hotel were not promising much good, but I decided to give it a try anyway... Well, the pics were right. In fact, the pics show the best bits - which is NOT a good thing! I understand that this is budget accommodation, but they have taken the cost saving drive too far! E.g., light bulbs have not been replaced in my room! The shower is dirty. The TV remote control unit is faulty! Nowhere to hang my clothes... And this is just my room, which is the best bit as it is quite clean and very nicely renovated. The bath is quite clean also. Apart from the room, the establishment itself is really not clean, and another concern was the low level of security at the main gate. This place is only suitable as a last resort.

Owner-manager is not on site at all. Only two young girls who run the place, one in the daytime and one at night. We would not have called what they serve a "full English breakfast" -- two hard cooked eggs, a few cold tinned baked beans, toast and a tiny piece of sausage, every morning the same. Lock on our door stuck and "locked us in" several times. When we needed breakfast early there (before 8 to 10) was a bit of a fight as to who would do it as the one daytime staff would not be in till 8am and the other is "not on duty in the morning". The saying "You get what you pay for" is true -- we thought we were going for a good price and we got it, with very basic accommodation. Bramley Lodge is a beautiful old house which COULD be made into a really lovely place. WIFI connection advertised is spotty at best, and very unreliable. We would stay there again only because of the price, but being forewarned that it is only the basest of accommodations.

The rooms were not very clean. Specially the bathroom was filthy. The shower stall was stained and had a lot of black mold on the floor and sides. The tub was stained also.
