The beautiful city called La Paz presents itself in front of the majestic, towering Illiman Mountains. Here in the valleys of the Andes, this city is a bustling centre of the country of Bolivia. For many tourists this destination has everything to create the perfect holiday. La Paz is divided into seven main districts (Macro Distritos), which are then separated into 21 smaller districts. With so many places to see, visitors should take advantage of local detailed maps. One of the oldest neighbourhoods in La Paz, Sopocachi, contains Abaroa Square where tourists can mix with the locals and do some shopping and sample South American food. This busy Bolivian city also attracts many sports fans because they have the biggest football teams in the country. Other attractions and landmarks to see include cathedrals like the San Francisco Cathedral and the Metropolitan. To get a cultural perspective of the city, head over to Murillo Square, or to some of the many museums. One of the most notable museums is located on Jaén Street, a preserved street showcasing Spanish design. From the mountains to the main streets, La Paz is filled with breathtaking views, rich history and friendly people.
The La Paz climate is classified as subtropical highland because of its high altitude. Temperatures are cool throughout the year, and it has a relatively dry climate. Rainfall generally occurs during the months of November through March. Although La Paz can be visited all year round, April through October is the best time to visit. The city of La Paz, Bolivia, has an average year-round temperature of 2-18°C (35-65°F). However, visitors should be prepared for windy, cold nights no matter the season.

Getting There
To reach La Paz by plane, visitors will fly into the El Alto International Airport. Due to the high altitude of the city, the planes come into the airport very fast. The El Alto International Airport is actually one of the highest international airports in the world.
The Terminal Terrestre is the main bus terminal in La Paz, and is located at the upper end of Prado just off of Avenida Montes and Plaza Antofagasta. Buses come to the terminal from eastern and southern areas of Bolivia. There are also international buses that arrive and depart from the main bus terminal in La Paz.
Upon reaching La Paz, visitors will find that taxis are one of the easiest and most efficient ways to get around the city. In La Paz the taxi fares are fixed and not metered, and visitors will find an abundance of taxis in the city.
