What a fantastic hotel. One of the few hotels in Kata Beach that is actually located on the beach itself. The accommodation may be 4* but the service is 5*. What makes this hotel even more special is the restaurant (there are 3 sister restaurants - 1 next door, one up the hill towards Kata Noi, and one on the other side of the Island, all of which we visited and enjoyed). Heartily recommended.

Altogether I enjoyed my second stay at the Boathouse hotel. The interior has seen better times although it looks cosy The rooms are quite small, but well furnished and clean. The lobby and the restaurant areas are worn down (we did not eat dinner at the restaurant). The beach is clean but the water was rather muddy especially after some heavy rain showers. The beach was quite crowded and it was impossible to find peace due to constant and heavy traffic from local traders offering their goods. The hotel has a good and friendly atmosphere but the overall the value for money is poor.

The hotel is really a great restaurant with some rooms attached. The hotel badly needs renovation - it must have been outstanding 10 years ago, but there are plenty of new boutique hotels, and Mom Tri''s looks tired by comparison today. Also the staff need to be more on the ball. They are incredibly friendly, but the day we arrived, there was no air conditioning, no swimming pool and the beaches were dirty. They were in fact recovering from a storm and flooding the previous day, but nobody told us this. Nor were we given any realistic timetable for repair - we were simply told "very soon" which is irritating. The food is still great though, and the wine list terrific. But Mom Tri''s is in danger of being left behind.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much. The service was was excellent, the staff had a wonderful attitute and we felt that the staff enjoyed working at the hotel and enjoyed serving the guests. <BR><BR> This has been one of the finest hotel experiences we have ever had. This applies right from the manager to the reception staff down to the pool attendants.
