My expectations were low after reading a lot of the reviews. As a thirty something traveling solo, I found everything to be adequate and the staff extremely friendly. I billed three food/bar transactions to my room and I was charged properly. They didn't hesitate to give me the 10% discount on room charges that was advertised as part of my package. The requirement to wear a wristband is understandable given some of the security issues they mentioned (items being stolen by visitors). It was a little funky that I couldn't show my friends my room without paying a visitor fee. There is also a fee for having someone over for the night. This seems to be a common practice at the surrounding hotels. The experience was pleasant, but after learning the area, I'd consider staying somewhere else. You don't need to be on the beach, and as a local bar owner mentioned, they seem to be riding on their reputation for being the first gay resort on the beach.

The gay beach is at your doorstep & the nightlife is a short walk away. You'll never leave the area during your visit! Friendly staff and locals go to great lengths to ensure you have a good time. The rooms are "rustic" and the amenities few, but if you go without thinking it's the Ritz Carlton, you'll have a blast!

It is not the most luxurious accommodations but the hotel has the best location and great view from most of the rooms.

Not a mega resort and not like an American hotel....exactly what we were looking for. Fantastic service from the staff.

The hotel underwent a renovation a few years ago and it's definitely a comfortable place to stay... but no, it's not fancy so don't expect that. Instead, it's in a great location, there is always something going on, and the staff are incredibly fun and helpful.

If you are thinking to have good nights sleep while you staying there forget it. Music until midnight and hotel construction from 8 am makes it impossible to enjoy your stay. I called the front desk 5 times and they said I have to talk to the manager but she was never there. There all plenty of cheaper and better hotels in the area. I would not stay there again.

Well....the staff is friendly but not very efficient. Took them a while to provide me with a safety box. No towels for a day and no beach towels for 2 days.Bar some time charged 1 buck more per drink...Pto vallarta is fantastic and fun for gay people all over the world.....beautiful and fllirty people for all tastes all the time...only one key for 2 guests? dumb policy....extra charge if you invite some one? like is not enough to pay 130 per night?...no breakfast offered....next time I will go to a neighbouring hotel and just go there for the bach experience....

This is the second time that I stayed at the BC, and in a lot of ways, it has improved in the last year. The room was clean but hot water is intermittent . The location is the best, HOWEVER, even though I was on the second floor, when the show is going on the roof top, I could hear it like I was right there... It was loud! so forget an afternoon nap. ALSO, I d like to give the hotel the benefit of a doubt, but I was contacted by my credit card company a week after I returned home. Someone tried to make a $600 charge with a duplicate of my card. Fortunately, they caught it, and declined the purchase. The only place that I used my card in Mexico, was the hotel when I checked in to cover incidentals. I paid cash for everything, and never used an ATM while I was there, and my card never left my room the entire time I was there. Although I wish I could recommend the hotel, after the experience with my credit card, I would not

Great location, great staff. However, I was placed in a room just a few steps down from the bar and so it was rather noisy during the times the bar had a show going on. Furthermore, the WiFi that was offered was very spotty and I had difficulties getting a strong connection.

The room was average, clean, and a good size. The sale price we received via Orbitz was great. HOWEVER, the hotel was under construction so we were awoken every morning except Sunday at 6:00am by jack-hammering, pounding and drilling. This continued all day until about 6:00pm. The best rest I got was when I was not in my room.

Before Booking at Blue Chairs, we read all the reviews on Orbitz and Trip Advisor. To say the least we were very reluctant to book because of the reviews, but we did anyway and I am glad we did! The staff is friendly, room clean, and prices are great. Keep this in mind when you plan you visit to Puerto Vallarta. Each country is different in regard to the hospitality industry. We Americans are spoiled when it comes to our expectations-so when visiting this beautiful city and you are staying at Blue Chairs-manage your expectations. It is a great hotel with plenty of activity and great service. The only two areas that need improvement is the hotel's wifi and the beach vendors, who constantly asking you to buy their goods.

When I rented the 2nd best room offered, which included a kitchenette...I did not expect to be provided pots and pans, but no heat source to cook. I did not expect to be provided a 2.2cu ft refrigerator that I couldn't keep any ice in, much less much else. I would have expected to have a blender, given the tropical vacation location. Needless to say I was very disappointed with the facilities provided given it was a Jr Suite with Kitchenette that I paid for. Having said that, the facility is not bad for the price (just don't pay for a kitchenette), the daily maid service kept the room fresh, and the location is awesome. The sunsets from our balcony were stunning. They apparently have a tradition of overbooking, then giving excuses as to why the room you paid for is not available, and that was true for us for the first 2 of the 10 days we stayed. I can't say that I would recommend this to friends, but then you might not be as picky as me ;-)
