The hotel is perfectly situated, just 5 minutes walk from Brisbane shopping malls and city centre, close enough to enjoy the city and away from traffic and the noise. Car park is available, which is a great bonus! One more thing : ask for a room with a city view and you'll be able to get the free wifi signal from the City Council (the wifi is available from the park across the street but I could get it from the room!).

Good for an overnight stay, or a couple of days. Room was very spacious with enormous balcony. Reasonable price for Australia, where most things are expensive due to their very strong currency.

Only stayed two days but great location close to Central Station, handy with kitchen facilities. Dinner meal and service both excellent. Will definitely stay here again.

Bed was great, the room was large. Only small downers were noisy plumbing and a transparent blind over the window above the bed - not so conducive to sleep ins!

I have stayed at this hotel three times now and only do so for the location. Some of the rooms are ok but badly stocked. Our bed was short sheeted and even though it was pointed out on our second night stay it had not been fixed. There is a kitchenette with crockery etc but obviously it is not checked by the cleaners for restocking. We have always needed to ask for things like glasses, cutlery or plates. The crockery supplied is mismatched, microwave not working properly and faulty kettle. We like the location, close to CBD but unless you are fit it is not so good. There is a steep set of stairs to climb to get to the hotel. Some staff are friendly but others are bordering on rude. I don't think management care about this hotel.

Firstly , nothing like the photos as on the Internet.Booked through motel.com , asked for an apartment as depicted on Astors web site.Advertised free train to hotel , but no longer available. Room wasn't clean , stains up the curtains , over blankets and carpet outside the room looked mouldy.Provided one blanket only , had to ask for another. No electric blankets.Other people in our group had rusty marks around the stove elements. Some crockery chipped. Tin foil over smoke detector for some reason.Clothes line broken. Had to ask for toilet paper ,face clothes and dish washing liquid. Not much point talking to cleaning staff , their English isn't good. Complained at front desk but the man didn't want to know , but they were happy to take our $857NZ for 5 nights.

Good size room with stove, microwave, cutlery and crockery. Great for the six night stay. But some aspects tired; bed linen threadbare. Facilities not obviously dirty but closer inspection showed that cleaning a bit haphazard It was quiet, a good price and the location was excellent.

Our room was a good size. Little bit of renovations going on out front of hotel. Key card to room was a slight problem otherwise we were happy. Close to airport train.

When I secured three nights here at a bargain price, I anticipated an old-style Best Western - just a couple of floors, a motor-inn kinda thing. Instead: a high-rise with over a dozen floors, great views, and five minutes walk from Albert St Mall. Book the buffet breakfast the night before and it's a mere $12.50. Forget cabbing it from the airport too. AirTrain to Central will have you two minutes walk from the hotel for a third the price. (Note: There are *three* exits from Central - "two minutes walk" only applies if you pick the right one :-) - you want the one that *doesn't* lead to Ann or Creek St. Emerge from that exit (up stairs or via the lift) head left on Wickham and there's the hotel. Would definitely stay here again; in fact will seek it out next time I need Brisbane accom.

The staff member that checked us in was very unhelpful. We wanted to do a load of laundry and asked about where we could buy washing powder. He directed us next door and we got what we needed. The information in the hotel guest books in the room is extremely outdated, giving the wrong info about the laundry location. Upon finally finding the laundry we found that it was unusable due to no water access on that floor. We proceeded back to the unhelpful staff member and asked about the laundry to which he replied "it's not available due to the construction going on" he then pointed it out in a manner that suggested we were idiots for not figuring this out. He could have easily given this information when we asked about washing powder but instead let us waste time and money on an item we ultimately could not use.
