Best Western Amber Hotel Istanbul Guest Reviews
We arrived at the hotel at midnight after a very long day to be met with the news that there was a problem with our booking. My husband asked if the hotel was full but was told by the manager that it was not. He tried to tell us that the hotel was awaitng an inspection from Best Western on 25/11/11 & several rooms were being renovated. We were taken to a nearby hotel for the night. The next day when we went back to the hotel the receptionist said the hotel was full until the end of the month. This was very unfortunate because otherwise everything else was excellant with exceptionally pleasant & helpful staff.

The staff here were extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, the breakfast on the terrace very good. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when in Istanbul. Good value for money.

We found this hotel to be not in one of the best areas in the city, you wouldn't want to step out on your own. No bar facilities as it was off peak and had been raining! cheap but not very cheerful. Very small room with little space to 'swing a cat.' Wouldn't encourage people to choose this hotel when there is such a wider choice throughout the city. I found pictures on their web site to be a little deceiving. Having said all this, there were no unpleasant instances whilst staying and the hotel did it's job of supplying a bed and a shower.

It was not as close to the Blue Mosque as we believed. We had to walk about 20 minutes (about a third of it uphill) to get there. The area of town we were located in, Kumkampi, was a little run down, and while we didn't mind it, I am not sure everyone would. The owners and staff were very helpful and offered to help us next time we came to the city. As for the room, it had a telephone, but we could not call outside of the room. The shower is very small. Aside from that, everything was clean. Breakfast was always great! The food was really nice and the little breakfast spot in the basement was lovely. We had a good time and I would stay there again!

Extremely noisy location, no parking at all, very unfriendly staff, very modest breakfast. Rooms were fine when newly decorated, now there is practically no bathroom accessory working properly, TV cables get disconnected etc. The windows are not tights, sealings are loose, noice is terrible. Payment is asked for up-front. Avoid the hotel, Kumkapi area is not what you need to see in Istanbul.
