Berjaya Redang Resort Guest Reviews

4 out of 5

Beach was wonderful, white sands and magnificient clear sea water. You can sea tropical fishes 2 mins boat travel. Recently hotel changed its name (no longer Berjaya Resort), and refurbished rooms. Very clean room & friendly hotel staff. Meal selection was bit little but definitely recommended.

4.4 out of 5

Went for a short weekend getaway with my hubby in Berjaya Redang Resort. A truly 5-star resort with superb service staff and excellent location nestled in a tropical jungle with beautiful sand and sea. My hubby and I booked a Redang Hillview room but were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade to a superior room that comes with a living. Short note to take though, there is no road transportation to other parts of the island thus should guests like to venture out, the only way is to charter boat service from the resort. As for F&B, there are only 3 village eateries on that side of the island so basically all meals can only be done in the resort itself. Only 2 restaurants within the resort which can barely accomodate all guests so would recommend making a reservation earlier in the day to secure a seat in the restaurant at night.

We spent 6 days in August as part of our honeymoon at "BRBR". We overpaid due to being lazy with our booking, but even if we had got the cheapest possible rates, it would have been expensive for what you get. So...what do you get? An amazing beach and beautiful, clear water, a comfortable, clean room, a good buffet, and friendly service. What you don't get is efficient service, attention to detail, and certainly not value for money. It is a private, inaccessible beach, so there is (almost) no competition, which results in the high prices and/or the "sorry, no can" attitude. If it weren't for the amazing location, the smiles, and Mr. L... on the excursions desk, it would have been very disappointing. Recommend to stay on Long Beach instead.

This was truly a lovely place. The private beach is kept clean, the rooms are lovely (go for beach view), and the staff is very helpful and friendly. We were there over Christmas and were given a treat by Santa, had our own personal gingerbread house in our room, and had cookies brought to us every night. The only negative thing is getting there. The boat ride is two hours of wavy hell, and you need a super strong stomach for the trip. We got very, very sick, and needed a day to recover. I would not recommend going in December or January, as the waves are brutal.

While the staff are generally very nice and friendly, the hotel can improve little things like making sure the drain covers outside the rooms are fitted properly. We were woken up very early when the buggies started going over the pathways and drain covers kept clunking loudly!

Other areas for improvement:
- Staff taking out groups for snorkelling trips should give verbal advice to the snorkellers about not touching the marine life, especially the coral.
- Hire a better lounge singer! The one-man band was entertaining in an inadvertent manner. He was very flat and his repertoire was the same every single night.
- Once the season started, the hotel should have already made the necessary preparations. But we found some programmes weren''t available yet and that not all the areas have been cleaned up.

Overall, the resort was comfortable. But we feel that the price was not justified.
