Largely residential, Etterbeek is the birthplace of past and current notable people, including the creator of The Adventures of Tintin, Georges Rémi. Getting There
Travellers who are flying into Belgium to get to Etterbeek can land at either the Brussels Airport or the Brussels South Charleroi Airport. There are taxis and busses outside both airports that will transport you to the Etterbeek area. This municipality is served by three metro stations (Petillion, Merode, and Thieffry) and one train station (Gare d'Etterbeek), connecting it to the City of Brussels and other municipalities. Etterbeek is easy to get around on bicycle or foot and is about four kilometres from the Grand Place and attractions in the city centre. The neighbouring Ixelles municipality is known for interesting museums, churches, and African communities.
