Beacon Hotel New York
4.4 out of 5

Really convenient location on 75th and Broadway. There is a great food market just across the road, there are good diners/restaurants nearby, the subway was on 72nd Street again very handy. we couldn't fault this hotel, my husband and I stayed there with our 2 teenage sons in a 2 bed/2 bath apartment which was excellent, loads of room for all of us. There is a laundry on the 7th floor which was great as we'd been travelling for 2 weeks! Would recommend this hotel for families.

My main gripe is the room was really small. It had a double bed in the room which I was occupying on my own, was just as well as there would wasn't enough room for two people to share. The other facilities in the bedroom were very good apart from the fact that you could not get to the sink easily as the unit was partially blocked by a wall. Also the air conditioning was quite noisy. I switched off the main unit as it was so loud but there was still a drone in the one corner of the room, this stopped if you opened the bedroom door but commenced again as soon as you shut it. The check in was quick and the concierge staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. There were loads of places very near the hotel to eat out or to buy ready cooked meals to take back to the room and a number of good shops of all types. Subway conveniant and the hotel was a walkable distance from time square - about half an hour in all.

Great location near Central Park and handy to subway. Wonderful view of New York skyline from our room. Recently refurbished, with excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities. Very clean. Would definitely go back - I highly recommended the Beacon Hotel.

A clean, well run hotel on the upper west side close to the No. 1 subway line and the Lincoln Center. Room was recently re-decorated and of acceptable size, and contained electric hot plates and microwave. Helpful, cheerful staff and a convenient Diner next door. I would certainly stay there again. Price is reasonable (for New York).

A very clean, friendly and helpful hotel. The position of this hotel is excellent, great to be so near the underground station, Central Park, an excellent supermarket, a great place to stay even for the first traveller to NY.

I was given a beautiful corner suite. It was perfect. The front desk was very helpful. A perfect location. The only problem is the hotel has no bar or coffeeshop to visit after the show.

Renovations were being carried out during our stay but did not inhibit us enjoying the hotel. The location is particularly handy.

Very spacious and modern compared to others we have stayed in in NY City. Nice to have a kitchen-especially the micowave and fridge. The only complaint was the bad mattress on one of the beds.

We are aware that NYC hotel prices have gone up as the Euro has gone down. We have been loyal visitors staying at the Beacon since 1988. We are very happy with location and facilities in the Upper West side neighborhood and have paid the price each year even though it has continually gone up in price. Sadly to say it will soon be out of our price range and we will be forced to find another place to stay. The Beacon seems like home and we do not look forward to this.

I really recommend this hotel to second-time visitors to New York; it's in a great area that I would never have got to know otherwise. It's not in MidTown but a major subway staion is 2 blocks away, great shopping 6 blocks away and it's right by Central Park. I stayed in a suite which worked out cheaper - well equipped kitchen and there's a supermarket across the street.

Brilliant location in terms of access to Central Park, Lincoln Centre, museums, galleries and shopping. The hotel is being progressively upgraded and some rooms are much nicer than others, but the facilities are good and having a kitchenette a real benefit. One warning - beware the airport shuttle! pickups can take over an hour before the hour's trip to JFK.

Beacon Hotel was for us in a great position. We enjoyed the closeness to Central Park and to the subway which got us to wherever we wanted to go in a matter of minutes. When we next visit New York we will definitely consider staying there again.

Nice hotel, well situated, lots of restaurants around, quiet streets. Our room was neat and comfortable. The only reproach that I have to adress to this hotel is the foul smell in the corridors.

Nice location on Upper West side, across a fairway market, very practical to organize breakfast or quick snacks before shows... Try to get a room on the rear because Broadway can be noisy depending on the necessity of the reapprovisionnement/market... Rooms are large, the kitchnenette has microwave, coffeemaker, a 2 electric cuisiniere , a refregirator and also glasses, cups, plates...

The Hotel was a little shabby, but obviously undergoing some changes. One of the 3 elevators was not working so there was a long wait. We were there in February and the heat was disconnected for 1 day while they repaired it. Given the inconviences, the hotel should have reimbursed us or in some way made an extra effort, but that was not forth coming.

Excellent quiet place to stay in upper west side. More locals than tourists in area. have stayed there for years. would recommend for those who like to do some of their own cooking with veggies and breads from across the street at Fairway and Citrella..
