The hotel looks great from kerbside and the foyer and ground floor is fine but that is where it ends , the lift and passages plus the rooms are all in need of modernisation and total renovation. I am prepared to concede that mine was a last minute booking at a the low price of $89 and I guess it's hard to expect much more, however I was also charged an extra $10 for parking on departure I was not made aware of when booking or on arrival. I stay in Melbourne between 1 and 3 nights per week every week and I would be interested to know if all rooms and floors are in the same condition or if I was allocated the room and floor I stayed in due to the late booking and price. My experience would certainly indicate it was relatively cheap however you can do better for a cost of $99 . Suggest The Victoria Hotel or Toorak Manor. Would be happy to hear from anyone who thinks they have better value for money for a regular booking. Mac. McPherson.

Well paid the same price at other hotels and found this one wanting. One lift only working so lots of people waiting in lobby, very slow counter service so don't be in a rush to get to the room.Room clean and tidy but small and basic, tiny TV so take your glasses, air con fan would not turn off all night so sleeping pills a good idea and 10 dollars to park at your own hotel a day well that's just rude. Place is just a bit dated like the bathroom cupboards but location to everything is great just wouldn't go there again, If you can get a room there for less than $90 a night i would take it otherwise shop around

great stay, very neat and tidy, lots of space in the room. Staff extremely helpful, great buffet breakfast although a few more teaspoons would of been better!! Not far from town, not far from St Kilda. Would go back again any time...

Even though this property could not be classed as CBD it is only a stones throw from the St Kilda Road tram stops which allows easy access to Melbourne attractions. Though a little dated this hotel has aged gracefully and also has an excellent out door pool and a gym. The one downside to the property is one that is also common at many Hotels and that is the over the top prices charged for bar drinks.

Where did they get the rating? The star fairy? It's like a time tunnel trip BACK to the 1970's. They really just should demolish it and start again with some modern style and furnishings. The staff are nice, but you can tell they know they work in a pretty ordinary hotel. it's clean but for the price, $99, not good value compared with other places if one shops around. I was stuck at the last minute to find a Sat night between two other bookings so had to grin and bear it. there is a pool so families probably think it is "groovy", but ...

Many staff members were very pleasant and very helpful. Two were sullen. The hallway and the room were a bit shabby and our windows looked on to the first floor of the undercover parking. It was quite a long taxi ride from the centre of the city where the airport shuttle bus is located. That was OK when there was not a lot of traffic but took a long time when we arrived. About two blocks walk took us to the tram system which was very good. A variety of restaurants could be found in the area but they were too far away for us to walk. We ate at the bar at the hotel and that was fine.

We were happy once our room was ready, it was an hour late so we had to sit in the lobby and wait so was not to happy about that. The pool and spa were really nice. It was also good to have check out at 11.00 am.

The one night stay was Ok for our purposes (attending an event in Melbourne) but would not want to stay in a standard room for any length of time. Room was acceptable for the price. Hotel, particularly the corridors could do with renovation. Outdated 34cm cathode ray tube TVs need to be replaced with modern flat panel TV. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Very grateful for upgrade and location perfect, but disappointed that we were charged $10- for carpark although in room services directory states all guests received complimentary carparking.

Have had much better accommodation (eg. Superior Twin, a large Studio, an extremely spacious Queen) for less around this area. Booked Standard Queen but given Twin in a dingy room with chipped peeling laminate, leaking taps and no plugs. Extremely noisy in the corridors on each of the 4 nights we stayed. Was told on exit that if we had paid more (our special rate was $115 booked 2 months prior) we could have had a better room.

The best thing was the warm & friendly reception staff. They very kindly gave us a free upgrade. Room service was very good too. We didn't stay for breakfast, we had to leave too early. The location was good, we found interesting pub/cafe in nearby St Kilda Rd called the Village Project. They had a great selection of different beers and the bar snacks were very good. We would stay again

hotel is in an excellent location and good value for money, but the rooms are a bit old, and bathroom whilst functional and clean could do with an overhaul. Tiny old TV would be cheap to replace but they still have the 51cm tube style TV. can't really complain. If they improved the rooms a bit, I imagine it would bump up the tarrif

Hotel chosen for price and location and fitted both requirments well. Some noise issues but only for one night from a tour group who chose to have meetings in the hallway Noted publicity includes 'next door to a championship golf course' - I thnk the Golf Assn would have something to say as course is a well looked after 'public course' at best

The room I stayed in (244) was very poorly maintained, towel rails loose, curtains off the track on one end and dosen't fit the window letting in the light, the tv is of the old style doesn't even have all the free to air channels, chair falling apart, chips out of the paint work on most areas, air con wasn't working for 3 days on asking for second time it was fixed. I spend about 125 days a year in Melbourne hotels and was far below the standard of all the others that I have stay in for similar room rate, the staff were good but let down by the maintaince of the building.
