This Hotel could be a little gem. With a little bit of TLC and a lick of paint throughout, this basic place to stay would be a find to recommend. However our room was small with dated wall paper, grubby paintwork, TV that didn't work and a remote with no batteries, mini shower cubicle with mold on its pipes, door corners and up the walls and broken shower hose with no wall connector, torn curtains, flaking ceiling paint, very hard bed (I mean HARD) with the smallest - flattest of pillows. OK, so it did't cost much and we were given clean towels and beds made every day. The location is great for Paris, with only a quick nip on the Bastille Metro or 15 minutes walk to Musee du Louvre. When we came to check-out, the receptionist tried to over charge us 90 euros until I questioned this bill, for breakfast and 'Paris TAX' (0.46 c/ pday) for only 4 days. We were able to make it down to 57 euros in the end. Seemed VERY unprofessional to me. Please BEWARE!!!!

Everything is shabby, as you enter the room you are hit with a wave of stale stench of dust and oldness. Every time someone flushes the toilet it feels like a plane is taking off, the pipes are roaring and vibrating so hard you wake up at night. Overpriced even for its modest pricetag.

Reasonable hotel. Not too pricy, cleanliness is okay. But you have to bring your luggage through the steep stairs which is a concern. Rooms are small but with necessary bedding and other facilities.

second most expensive place of our 4 week stay in west europe, and without a doubt the tiniest, most uncomfortable room. the room was barely big enough to fit the small double bed, and the modest bathroom was nearly the same size as the room. The floor of the room was not level, and gave me dizzy spells. The bed was very hard. The room had only one powerpoint (incl bathroom), which was what the tv was plugged into. There was certainly no minibar as advertised on the front page. There was WiFi access, but this was so weak as to not work in the rooms - you had to use the 'lobby' or the stairwell. However, the location was wonderful, being so close to Bastille and the Metro (but don't make the mistake of thinking that Charonne would be the closest stop, because it's on the same street- it's not)
