Base Queenstown Hostel
3 out of 5

Room was clean and comfortable, but the lift shaft was right at our wall, very noisy especially with people in it. This place is for backpackers who want to be in town near everything, especially the night life. Very noisy when people on the booze arrive back to rooms. Windows are double glazed so street noise is minimal, but loud when you open the windows. Our room looked straight onto the road, shops and a mall with a gym on the opposite floor to us, we had to close our curtains for privacy. Great for backpackers especially the bar next door and the internet downstairs and the staff are keen to get you to try some extreme trips, like rafting etc. Good price if you own some good earplugs. Otherwise pay extra to stay at a proper Hotel.

Nice and brilliant place. Strategic. Would prefer if they turn on the central heater during my stay there as it was quite cold. However the common kitchen was a bit poorly ventilated.

Prepare yourself to be awake until about 3am. Queenstown is party central so if you want a sleep---don't stay here. Its right beside about 3 night clubs. The double bed turned out to be 2 singles but the front desk guys were really great. It was a room nonetheless. Cheers

This is mainly a Backpackers Lodge. As an older guest I booked a private room with an ensuite. It was very clean. The reception staff were very attentive. For younger travellers this is a great place. The location is fantastic. I enjoyed the experience.

can't fault the place really, it is a party hostel in a party town, a little noisy for us but we still had a good stay.

Very noisy because of a Pub on the ground floor. Impossible to sleep.

Discovery Lodge Queenstown, is perfect, right in the centre of Queenstown, great for the younger traveller as everything is at the door. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean and tidy. Absoluately a fabulous place to stay, couldn't ask for better, reasonably priced. Great for 25 to 45 year olds.
