Location
Surrounded by parks and reserves, Base Backpackers Hostel is situated on the shores of Lake Taupo more than five kilometres from Taupo Airport. During a clear day, vacationers should not miss thermal walks along Wairakei Natural Thermal Valley or prawn fishing at Huka Prawn Park.

First class Hostel- ensuite double room. Watch out for the Disco at Finn McCahul Irish Pub over the street, great food, but very noisy til 3am.

man ,you cann't go wrong at this place ,even thro I stayed 1 night the staff made me feel welcome .... they had a bar next door & everything was just round the corner

The staff were helpful and friendly. The facilities were above standard, especially for the price.

Very noisy. Great for party animals. Not good for a restful stopover.

The walls are very thin, the location is great but the noise from other rooms and from the bar below kept me awake both nights. I understand the hotel is for younger people, but I will not stay in the hotel again.
