Barcelo Puerto Vallarta Resort All Inclusive

Situated in a small cove at the base of the mountains the resort has a private feel, and incredible views any way you turn. With only a 3 night stay I didn't do anything other than bask in the sunshine, but it was perfect. The staff went above and beyond and the food was great; everything about this resort exceeded my expectations.

Not so good! My Camera got stolen. I had a bad massage, I got sick with the food and end up in the hospital. Bad location.

We traveled in a relatively large group. It was about 3 families going together. What the hotel doesn't really tell you is that there is an extra charge if you want your room cleaned (about $12/service), there is an extra charge if you want wireless internet in your room(about $8/night) and you only get one reservation at one of the 3 onsite restaurants. Of course, they have a "Premium Club" that you can join that will give you all those things for free at a cost of another $60 per night. It turns out to be a decent deal if you already had a bargain package vacation deal to begin with, but it would have been nice to know these limitations beforehand. With the premium club, in addition to receiving all the previous things for free (along with unlimited reservations to the restaurants), you get a top floor room that has TWO bedrooms and two bathrooms! So, if you plan to do the premium club option, don't make the mistake of booking multiple rooms for different families. It might even be better to call the hotel first to confirm before booking. Additionally, you also get a complimentary bottle of tequila, champagne and chocolates. You gain access to the "premium lounge" with your own personal concierge who can exchange cash for pesos, along with access to some top shelf alcohols that you can pour yourself. You also get a free city tour of puerto vallarta which was mostly pretty boring except for the end which was a tour of a tequila factory. The tour was informative but it felt like we were also stopping at the tour guide's buddies' businesses along the way. If you have kids you may want to buy some snacks and drinks at the drugstore across the street from the jewelry store stop. Because after that, it is a pretty long journey. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They did seem spread a little thin at the El Patio buffet area. So, we often had to flag people down to get some service. I would recommend going across the way to the los arcos side. We found the food at the El Patio side to be generally bland, with a few exceptions. In general, the restaurants onsite were nothing to write home about. The bars and bartenders were awesome and did not skimp on the alcohol at all. They were more than accomodating for things like warming up milk for the babies and what not. Even though we got our room cleaned for free, the maids often just took our old towels but did not replace them with anything. That was frustrating. Besides that, we liked the resort and would probably return.

Hotel itself was very nice but the front desk staff could have been a little more polite. Also it took a while to fine out what was going on at different times. Would ahve helped if they had a little more information on what to do in the area.

We had a great time at Barcelo. The hotel had great buffet food, 3 different pools, and easy beach access. The staff was friendly, but some of them didn't know English so it was hard to communicate at times. We ordered room service the first night and it came really late, so that was one of the only negatives. The food was great, a lot of variety. Would definitely recommend to others!

This was our first trip to an all-inclusive resort, we couldn't have expected how great it was. Truly, from the food, to the accommodations, to the entertainment and activities everything was amazing.

Had a wonderful 5 day all-inclusive stay at the Barcelo with my family! The rooms were super comfortable. I dont think an upgrade to Barcelo Premium is really necessary. The normal rooms were quite spacious and comfortable themselves and had a fairly decent ocean view. The resort provided some decent organic entertainment as well. The food (free) was good for the most part. The pools (4 of them) were immaculate. The few things that they can improve upon: - Provide wifi for free for all customers and not just the premium ones instead of charging ~$15 per day. Internet is a commodity now and not a specialty. - Increase vegetarian options in their buffet menu. And serve the Pizzas hotter. It felt as if we were eating the same food everyday :) - Italian Capri restaurant was pretty good but Don Quixote(Mexican) was only so-so.

The Premium club staff is excellent. I requested different a pillow to sleep on and housekeeping never followed up in bringing me a more firm pillow. The Italian and Sapanish restaurants have better that average food compared to the other restaurants in the hotel, I forgot my Ipod in the room and I am currently working with the concierge to see if they found it and if they could send it to me. The beach front vendors are very annoying and can't be controlled by the hotel security.

Booked upgrade to Jr suite. Upon our arrival we had been upgraded to the Master suite....It was to die for. Pools were heated and felt wonder, the landscaping was beautiful, the ocean was inviting and maid service was excellent. Here area few areas that could be improved. Refrigerators in rooms need to be replaced. The bartenders made drinks so strong that the taste was not good. The entertainment was not worth staying up to watch. The food was usually cold at buffet and specialty restaurants. Most entrees lacked flavor. Unable to enjoy the beach due to the persistent vendors. Beach was quite small which made it hard to escape the vendors. Planning our next trip to Mexico we will not return to this resort.

Very nice staff and room was very nice. Could use some pads for the beach chairs. Not much of a beach for walking but nice view. Food could be served hotter but was good and plenty to choose from. Had to ask for the refrig in the room to be fixed so it was cold for drinks. Make the short walk to the Zoo in Mismaloya, a very small charming town. When checking out beach towels make sure to write or remember the page you signed on to make the return easier for you. All in all we would go back.

The hotel was beautifull and so are the rooms. Not that clean though... lots of little bugs. The staff is amazing and the food is not the best but its more than you can expect for an All Inclusive. The spa amenities are great and the pools are beautifull. One of the most beautifull hotels in ALL Vallarta. I Will only stay in Barcelo for ANY future visits TO Valarta

After reading online reviews about this resort, my husband and I decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is so friendly, everything was clean and we had a great vacation. I will tell you that where this resort is located is on the southern part of Puerto Vallarta, so not close to the city, which was a plus for us. We were looking for something a little more remote, quiet and low key, all of which Barcelo was. We had a great trip and highly recommend this spot! Also, while we don't have children, this is a very family friendly resort. The only negative was the nightly entertainment... while they tried very hard, it just missed the mark.

The hotel was beautiful and was set in a very pretty place. The surrounding mountains were breath taking. I am from Colorado so I know mountains. The ocean was very warm and was warmer than I had expected. The hotel was a ways away from the airport. It was a 45 minute drive and thats on a good day. When we arrived the Pan American games were going on so we had to take the back roads which were a little scary. We arrived safely to the hotel with the round trip shuttle voucher provided through Orbitz. On the way back there was road construction so again it took a while to get to the airport. When in Mexico you have vendors on the beach...so be prepared for that. We did not go on any excursions because the ride to the Hotel made things seem uneasy. But there were enough activites at the hotel to keep my fiance and I occupied! Overall it was a very nice stay and overwhelmingly peaceful

Overall very good. Food was average, but hotel itself was very nice. Average gym. Rooms are very comfortable. Only issue we had was with the electronic key, it failed 3 days in a row and each time we had to wait for a maintenance guy to open the door to our room. But I'm sure it was an isolated incident.

We really enjoyed our time at The Barcelo. The rooms and amentities were fabulous!! The food and drinks were also great. That was surprising, for an all-inclusive. My only complaint was that the both of the ATMs at the resort were "out-of-order." The concierge did call other resorts near-by to see if they were in service. We then had to take a taxi, at our own expense to another resort. I felt The Barcelo should have comp'ed our taxi.

Everything was great except there was no advantage in paying for Premier as the restaurants that were a la carte were just OK not great. We were on the lowest floor yet according to the premier level we were to be offered an upper floor. Do not pay for premier. You virtually get everything without it except for an automatic late checkout which was nice. It is a little slice of heaven in Puerto Vallarta.

We have been to PV quite a bit and we are always drawn to Mismaloya. The location is beautiful and has so much character compared to Neuvo. The Barcelo beds were so comfortable, the view fantastic, less than a 5 minute boat ride to Los Arcos for great snorkeling. We traveled with 6 adults and 6 kids (ages 4-7) the all inclusive was a great set up for this kind of trip. The staff was very friendly the buffet was a good set up for all of us and of course who doesn't love free drinks..all day. The a la carte restaurants were fine, but not great, in my mind you are better off at the buffet. While an all inclusive resort is not usually our style, we had a great time.
