Barcelo Puerto Plata Hotel All Inclusive Guest Reviews (4)
First of all the rooms were ugly but very clean and tidy..The food overall was very poor. The shows and discotec were good overall and staff were very helpful and nice... Overall,,, if I were given no other choice this place would have to do.. Really disappointed

We got a great deal on a 3 night stay and when we arrived we were pleasently surprised to see what a gorgeous resort it was. The staff was pleasant, the room was always maintained stocked and cleaned. The pools were wonderful! The beach was amazing! The all inclusive restaurants were delicious!! I definetley recommend this resort for their Amenities, great staff and overall comfort. We had minor issues, for example the shower in our room wasn't working properly, but they fixed it right away, as well as the delay in having our room ready when checking in. I will def. be returning with my family! as well as recommending this resort to friends and family!

1. Hotel description on your and the hotels website do not match the real deal at all. Tennis court in horrible conditions, same as mini golf, you don't even want to go in there that's how bad and dirty it is. No Jacuzzi! unless you pay an upgrade for premium club. And if you try upgrading you have to end up paying double the amount then advertised. No non motorized water activities included either, as advertised in the all inclusive package, again you have to pay for everything from your own pocket and believe me they will rip you off where ever they can trying to charge cosmic numbers. 2. Front desk and guest representative staff unqualified to handle guest requests and issues. They were rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. It seemed mission impossible to talk to a manager, either was no one on duty or they were not available. Apparently staff was trying to hide issues from superiors. Only after check out was I able to finally speak to a front desk mgr who of course by then could not do anything except apologizing. 3. The eight specialty restaurants do not open every day, if your'e lucky you will have 2 of them on a weekday. Food in main buffet often seemed uncooked, breads tasted as if not baked all the way through and in some things especially in the chocolate in pastry you could only taste the artificial flavors. Only one beer type is included in your all included package. My husband got sick at the Mexican theme restaurant and spent the last night in the bathroom (had to be something not fresh because we are used to eating spicy). 4. Want to make sure your belongings don't disappear from your room? Pay $10dlls extra for a safety deposit box for a couple of days, another wise "the hotel does not guarantee anything in your room". 5. Internet service? an absurd $4dlls per 15min. 6. Transportation we paid for in our package did not show up at the way back to the airport until we called when they did not show up for our appointment. 7. Cheaptickets rates the Barcelo Hotel 4 star when they are a maximum 3. We travel allot and this was the worst experience we had, from day 1 to the departure at the airport (no ac at the terminal, no ventilation, only one standing fan for a waiting room full with over a hundred people).
