Located on North Bridge overlooking the Royal Mile with its jewelers, antique bookshops and art galleries, the Barcelo Edinburgh Carlton is just a two minutes walk away from Edinburgh Waverly Station and Edinburgh International airport is only a ten minute drive. Found everything to a high standard from our arrival , to our breakfast served to our room and the smooth departure process. The hotel is central for both the old town and the town centre area. Would definately stay at this hotel again.

went there for a weekend, we checked in at 5pm, only to be told that our room was not ready! normal check in is at 2pm so how can it not be ready?! asked concierge to make a booking for us at a restaurant, said he would do it, but he never got back to us. We called the Concierge from our room....kept ringing and ringing..no one picked up...called front desk...kept ringing and ringing..no one picked up. After 30 mins of continuous trying finally someone picked up. Concierge didnt get us a booking. Room was big but very bare. Sheets were very thin. Only good thing is the location.

Despite confirmation vouchers I was initially told that there was no room for me when I arrived. A room was found. Throughout the stay the meals provided as part of a conference deal were consistently of poor standard

The pool area and changing rooms need updating. The jacuzzi wasn't working for two of our three days. This didn't spoil our stay. Reception staff were very helpful.

It's taken me a while to actually post this review...lazy tho i am. The Carlton is a great hotel, excellently located and well appointed.
