After reading the excellent ratings on this forum, I decided to book Banthai Resort for 3 nights as part of our second anniversary celebration in Thailand. My experience during these days has been very disappointing, to be almost ashamed to call them a hotel run by Asians. Prior to arrival at hotel: My hotel booking had been done 3 months before my actual departure considering the flight and visa requirements. During that time, booking was done only on basis of credit card details with no mention of non-refundable charges. However 15 days earlier to my check-in date, suddenly a mail drops in asking for 1 night non-refundable charge as they were running full, knowing very well that 15 days prior booking shall have no discounts available at other hotels also, which a customer may consider in case one does not want to pay non-refundable charges. This was the first instance wherein this establishment showed its cheap tactics for harnessing customers. Limousine service: I had booked a limousine from the hotel itself, to pick me up from airport. However during the transit, our flight got delayed by 20 minutes, fairing which when I exited the airport, there was no sign of the limousine. After 10 minutes of hectic and frantic wait, the driver showed up at the airport with the cab, thus leading to almost a 30 min delay from our flight usual time. Arrival experience: During the booking stage itself and numerous interactions afterwards, it was made clear that I shall reach the hotel earlier and they should ensure that after a long flight from Delhi, my room should be ready. However when I reached, they charged my card for the entire stay, and after all processes, told me that the room shall take 2.5 hours extra to be prepared as I was earlier. There was no impetus from their side to give us even another room for the waiting period, forcing us to roam the streets of Phuket for an hour with my wife feeling dead tired all the time. On coming back to hotel after an hour, I could see, caucasian customers (no disrespect intended) being served promptly with no waiting period, and some even coming for booking and being served the room at the same time, while I was still being given the same line . On being severely reprimanded by me, with the threat of cancelling the booking and accusing them of discrimination, suddenly I found myself in a room in another 5 minutes, which showed rampant racial discrimination policy being observed by the hotel staff. Room experience: They say they are a 5 star property, however as soon as you enter the room, certain things are obvious rightaway, the room size is really tiny for the amount charged, mattresses and sofa are dirty, the tables have large stains, mosquitoes are rolling around, the toilet is a joke for its size etc. And I am talking about a Deluxe Room. Service experience: Every little request took almost 20 minutes to someone to even acknowledge, to the extent that to get an power adaptor for my laptop, they asked me to come to reception lobby as they won’t sent it to my room (and that too after 4 calls to reception & housekeeping team). They claim to give free wi-fi, the twist is that you can only connect one computer at a time, also if your voucher expires, no way they are re-charging it, unless you again come to the lobby to sign a document. And they call this 5 star service.Every little interaction (specially the reception ladies) had a rude and cold feeling with no so called famous thai warmth anywhere in conversation. Even the room service food menu had only 4 main course items!!!!!!! Food: I have only tried room service once, dinner in port restaurant once and the complementary breakfast. In regards to room service, the food was bought promptly, and food tasted good, however options are really limited. Breakfast array was good, and worth it, though once when I ordered omellete, it was half raw, but I believe Mr. Eggman was on leave that day, and somebody else was holding the station. The r

Great staff and clean rooms definately recommended TV reception wasnt the best but thats for a standard room. (no LCD) Wifi isnt free :(

The Banthai Beach Resort is perfectly situated along Patong Beach. The staff are very friendly and will work to make sure your stay is perfect. The restaurant's breakfast is good and has a wide variety of food to satisfy you regardless of what your "perfect" breakfast is. The hotel's property feels safe and comfortable. The pools are nice and the drinks at the hotel's bar are reasonably priced. Overall the hotel is a solid choice and I would definitely stay there again.

Everything about this hotel was beautiful! The location was great, it was quiet but still close to everything. The staff were friendly and helpful and everything was beautiful and clean! Would definately stay here again.

Great hotel, nice staff, close to the hustle and bustle of Patong but still nice and quiet. Would recommend. Will be going back next year for sure!!

Hotel excellent, beds little hard, opposite beach. Breakfast is very expensive - 500 Bht, recommend going to small shops or 7/11. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms have pay on demand movies otherwise normal TV also available. Walking distance to everything Will be back in the future

2nd stay @ Banthai Beach Resort & Spa Awesome hotel, great facilities, excellent rooms and very friendly staff The only thing this hotel is missing is a tennis court!! :) My preferred place to stay when visiting Patong Beach You definitely wont be disappointed

We were thrilled with everything about this hotel. Staff were so friendly and baby mad. Pool staff would wander off with our 10 month old and we would get to swim and enjoy lunch. They gave her toys and played games. And we got to enjoy a real holiday! Definitely worth getting breakfast included and upgrading to a pool room for $30 extra per night. Would go back in an instant!

Overall great resort. There is 3 swim up bars which are all really good, the pools are great, and to top it off, its in a really great location. Just walk out of the hotel and your at the beach. Service was fantastic - my room was always nice and clean when i got back at the end of the day. I would highly recommend this hotel. Cant fault it at all. Will definitely be going back.

Lovely hotel, very modern and rooms were very nice. Service was very good. Rooms were very clean but cannot say the same for the swimming pool, a pool which is used by so many people should be cleaned (vacuumed) more than once in 5 days (the length of our stay). We were a little disappointed that breakfast was not included which we thought at the time of booking was included! Breakfast was a little pricy so we ended up next door at Molly Malone's, bacon & eggs, tea and coffe for less than $5.00 Great value. Hotel was in great location to markets and the beach.

great location, minutes walk to patong beach, very nice resort and love the pool...spa is not bad as well. has some bad experience such as clogged toilet bowls, internet tat dun work in room, some impolite reception staff when i called abt the internet. but i will definately go back again and book the pool access rooms on the ground floor, those look fantastic!

This hotel is underated....fantastic staff that are so friendly and helpfull....made my stay a very pleasent one.The food and the service is first class....the rooms are serviced well above average...I will definately recommend the Babthai Beach Motel to everyone that visits Phuket.

We loved our stay at Banthai Resort. The staff were very helpful, even when we had to change rooms because of a really rude neighbour. The rooms are very clean, pleasant and cool. The pools and swim up bars are gorgeous and a great way to spend an afternoon (or many). The position is great for Patong Beach and all the action but it's still fairly quiet in the hotel grounds. Can't wait to go back!!
