Bailbrook House Hotel Bath
4 out of 5

As we were only staying in Bath for one night we wanted to have a nice experience and that's what we had. The hotel is in peaceful, beautiful surroundings just outside the city centre. The room was clean and comfortable and we had a great view of Bath from our first floor room. The mattress and pillows were disappointing. Our mattrass was too soft and our pillows were flat. Although the reception desk said they would change the mattrass while we went out for the day, we didn't notice any difference when we returned. Taxis into town costs around £7 each way. Dinner was a little disappointing but breakfast was very nice and you can eat as much as you like! The facilities included a gym, sauna and jacuzzi. Although they were small we really enjoyed using them before checking out of the hotel. The hotel have fabulous staff who were really nice and attentive. Overall we have to say we enjoyed our stay.

Clean, spacious rooms, good breakfast, nice enough place but the rave reviews on Trip Advisor are a tad over the top.

Very good business hotel just outside Bath. A great option with pool/sauna/gym facilities, if you don't mind a quick taxi into Bath (trying to drive around there is a nightmare)

Great location for Bath, spacious and smart rooms, nice bathrooms, very good breakfast, would certainly stay again. Only slightly odd things are the bar (very conference room like, which is what this hotel is a lot of the time) and the sauna/jacuzzi which is intimate to say the least!! Well worth staying at - very good value for money

What terrible disappointment! This hotlel is well out of Bath town, wanted to catch a taxi to Bath Saturday evening -told two hour wait - so had to resort to hotel facilities - none existant. Ordered room service with 2.50 pounds tray charge - chips inedible - hard/raw- no salt, pepper vinigar on tray - room service did not answer telephone after delivery. The TV is so small - chairs very uncomfotable - one chair and one desk chair. In the bar, which has no atmosphere - like school hall - my husband left jacket. In morning one employee remembered a jacket, had hung it behind bar - but it was gone. With cheap labour - hardly speaking English - it was hard to get any response at all to the enquiry as to wherejacket could possibly have disappeared - no-one could "give a care". At breakfast - ordered a "kipper" - informed there would be 20 minute delay !!! Totally unacceptable at price this hotel charges. Definitely would never recommend this hotel.

This hotel is set-up for professional conference services rather than private guests. That said, the room was excellent, the location to Bath quiet convenient (15 mins and £8 by taxi), where there are numerous restuarants for the evening. Bailbrook does have a restaurant and bar, but between 5pm and 7pm not much is available. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The hotel had good leisure facilities too. All in all we would use it again. Bath is a great place to visit! Ian Hillaby

Located just outside the city in its own grounds with views over the countryside. Easy access into Bath. Staff were friendly and helpful.

For the price it was outstanding value. The facilities were always available during our stay and the staff were very friendly. The hotel seemed to pride itself on attention to detail like bottled water in the rooms and umbrellas to loan at the exit of doors. A good walk away from the City Centre but the picturesque scenary made it worthwhile and the traffic into Bath meant that you arrived before anyone in a car anyway!!!!

This is my second stay in this hotel and would definitely stay there again when I next visit Bath. The grounds are lovely, the staff helpful and the rooms very high standard and clean.

Conveniently located for us for a weekend in Bath. Quiet but only 5 mins from the centre. Service was great. Breakfast was good with a nice variety on offer. Room was spacious and comfortable. Towels were changed even though we had not put them in the bath - so much for saving on unwanted laundry!

Beautiful grounds - best thing about it. Ambience of bedroom, bathroom and dining room verging on institutional - like a large upmarket college room. Bed comfortable enough. Breakfast OK. Hotel did not seem to be easily seen from road at night. Reception was unmanned because staff had been diverted to wedding bar. Staff friendly and well-disposed but more a sense of them pitching in rather than any proper professional and cohesive organisation. Overall impression - generally disappointing.

Mainly a conference centre but worked very well for weekend break. Room higher quality than conference centres often are; more the ambience of a country hotel Lovely grounds. Helpful efficient staff Appreciated free internet access.
