BEST WESTERN The Connaught Hotel Bournemouth Guest Reviews
This is a nice hotel but if you dont like hot bedrooms you may have a problem. We went in late Oct and even with windows open too too hot. No control on heating in room. The bed was also disappointing, especially the pillows which are very cheap, hard and uncomfortable. My daughter joined us for one night and was housed in the lodge. This in need of a major update. Very basic and run down compared to main building. The staff however are fantastic and the sports facilities are great.

Felt more like 2-star: fixtures/fittings poor (plastic bath, no mixing taps, rather smelly dark wardrobe). Room cramped and hot, corridors: creaky, badly decorated; like 1970s bed-sit house. Had to pay for upgrade to fit our five year old in room. There was a balcony, but this just meant cigarette smoke from other balconies drifted into our room when window was open. View: not nice.Buffet breakfast: good selection of hot and cold breakfasts. Distance to beach: 10 min walk to the top of cliff, then down zig zag path. Hotel surrounded by others that specialise in hen nights/stag do's, which gave it a grungy feel, but to it's credit, the Connaught refuses their custom; + the only hotel w/pool I could find in area. Don't go to Italian restaurant nearby (Valentino's) which the hotel receptionist described as "very good": it wasn't. Bournemouth is a dump unless you have good weather and stay on beach. We drove to Swanage, which was well worth the trip, as it's a whole other world.

Could do with upgrading Televisions and lowering Restaurant and Bar prices, might encourage more people to stay within the Hotel, there is no shortage of Bars and Retaurants nearby. This is a nice Hotel with good facilities. Was a very nice Breakfast too.

The hotel room was like going back to the 70's, our room was also hot and stuffy with a view out onto steel steps!! We ask to be moved but they said all rooms were like ours. Wouldn't recommend it.
