BEST WESTERN Shaftesbury Paddington Court London Hotel
2 out of 5

The room is too small. I really cannot open 2 luggauges at the same time. The most disappointing thing is the room is located in the next building which need to walk along the narrow corridor. Also, there is no lift to te room. Need to carry 2 lugguages up to 2nd floor. My back was hurted in the result.

Well when I first arrived they said my booking wasn't in the system. I showed them the print out receipt and they got us a room. Then 2 of my friends tried to check in and use their credit cards and they were declined, yet they worked everywhere else in London later that day. So they came back with cash. 3 days later while checking out they said 1 of my friends did not give them cash and somehow they got the credit card charged the night before. So she paid double. I had no problems with my room but both of my friends said the showers were cold and one completely stopped working mid-shower once.

The hotel is conveniently located north of Hyde Park and a short walk to the Lancaster Gate tube stop. You can reach both Kensington Palace and Oxford in 15 minutes. Only con is no wifi hotel-wide: you must be in the lobby to use it.

Good experience. Room was the size I would expect for downtown London. Staff was friendly and courteous.

Room was tiny, bed smooshy, staff overloaded. But the price was right for a night in transit when we wanted to be near Paddington.

Nice place, whch is very well located three short blocks from the Paddington Station, which has the Heathrow Express that takes 15 mnutes to the airport. The rooms are small but comfortable and the baths well equiped. The staff is friendly and helpful. But I got there at 12:30 a.m., and they had given my room away. They took me by private car to another hote 3 miles away and brought me back the morning. Otherwise, would highly recommend it for those on a tight budget.

I just returned from out trip to London. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other members. The hotel was an easy walk to/from Paddington for airprort connection as well as catching the "tube". Our room was modern & very clean. Yes, the rooms and hallways are a bit small but thats to be expected. We had a good laugh taking a shower every day- thats part of what makes your trip memorable. There were grocery stores, shops and local pubs all around. Easy walk to Kensington Gardens (great to people watch on weekends). Our food was great at the "Pride of Paddington" just up from the hotel. We had free wifi in the lobby & a hotel computer to use. Really a great point place, nice area.. No surprises at check out. Would stay again for sure!

Very cramped quarters for just two of us. Good from the standpoint of not spending too much time in the room, but a little tight for what we were paying. Felt like we overpaid for what we got, especially the bathroom which had barely room for one person. Location was good as it was close to Hyde Park and Paddington station. Stayed in Paris and Rome at similar type hotels on this Europe trip and felt this was the least bang for our buck. Would only recommended it as a place to sleep with a roof over your head...not much else to it.

I am a business traveler and things like check in time, air conditioning and internet access , as advertised, are important to me when selecting a hotel. Stated check in time was advertised on Orbitz as 1300 but in fact was 1400. Was given a room (409)where a/c did not work. When complained was given a room (807)in the basement down a treacherous spiral stairway. Carrying suitcase up or down stairswas very tricky. Room was a bit of a dungeon but a/c did work. Internet went down one evening and was advised that it would be 0900 next morning before someone would come to fix. As a business person I must communicate so this was an issue. Finally on checkout could not get printed invoice as printer did not work. If I ran my business the way these folks do, I'd go broke. I previously had good experience with the Best Western chain but will know better in the future. On positive note, staff was very polite and hotel in great location. Disapppointed.

What impressed us most was the welcoming staff, and the honesty of the entire hotel staff. I left a new coat in the room, and when I phoned later in the day, they not only returned the coat, but a scarf and cosmetic-product as well left in the room. The hotel was lovely, and someone was always offering to help make you comfortable, or help such as after the restaurant was closed... here's a pizza place that delivers to the room. The room was nice and we slept well. It is a very small room, but it is nicely appointed. We couldn't have been happier with the choice for the price we paid. The hotel is only a few blocks from Paddington Station in London.

very small room , but ok . on departure the staff were adamant that i had to pay them the nights fee even though i already paid through this site. A bit of an argument and some bad feeling being the result.

Price varies depending on when and with whom you book. Don't bother with breakfast (unless it's included). Try one of the many nearly cafes - considerably cheaper and better.

Be careful if you need to be at a given location. I arrived and and there were no single rooms. So i was moved to another hotel a couple of km away. Compensation for this free breakfast.

Lovely clean and modern rooms but so small. The wall with the large flat screen TV is right at the end of the bed which means watching it for more than 20 minutes is difficult without getting a headache. Lovely large window that opens wide - unlike so many hotels these days. The bathroom was clean and modern but tiny tiny tiny. I've never seen such a small bathroom. Ok for one night, maybe two but definately no longer. There is only one lift and it is horrifically small. I would stay again if I was only staying one night but would think twice if it was for any longer.

Hot water wasn't working as their boiler had packed in. They compd breakfast, but only after we hassled them. This is an okay tourist hotel. It's functional and I'd go back, but not if I'm celebrating or after something a bit special.
