Composed of a number of old buildings, some dating back to the 17th century, the Avenue Hotel Amsterdam is a picturesque place to stay with loads of character. In an ideal location to see sites such as the Waterlooplein flea markets, or the Floating Flower Markets, the staff can help point you in the direction of many Amsterdam landmarks that shouldn't be missed.

Location
In the historic centre of the city close to all of the main attractions such as the Anne Frank House and the Red Light District, you are also close to the gorgeous Jordaan area.

Rooms
In the Avenue Hotel Amsterdam there are single rooms, non-smoking rooms, and family rooms available. All come equipped with heat and air conditioning, safe, hairdryer, phone and TV. Because of the historical nature of the buildings, the hotel tried to leave as much of the original charm intact throughout remodeling, therefore each room is unique.

Restaurant
An extensive American-style breakfast is served in the morning to get your day off to a great start. You can unwind at night and enjoy a drink at the St. Jacobstreet cafe.

General
The Avenue Hotel Amsterdam is proud to be gay friendly. The front desk can help you with all of your needs, such as laundry services, photocopying, and fax services. There is free wi-fi available throughout the entire hotel. Pets are allowed with a small fee and certain conditions apply.

I have used this Hotel on many occassions and whenever I am going to stay in Amsterdam I look for "The Avenue" first and if I'm unable to book this Hotel, I am disappointed as words cannot describe how good this Hotel and its Staff are !!!!.

Once again the Hotel and it's Staff provided me with the very high quality I have come to expect from them and I look forward to returning to the Hotel next week for the Bock Bier Festival. :)

I have stayed in this Hotel on many occassions before but on this occassion the Staff really excelled themselves. I had ordered a ticket to be delivered to the Hotel for the Dutch Super Cup Final but due to a mix up the Ticket could not be delivered until the following Monday (6th August) and it was required for Sunday (5th August). The Hotel Receptionist stepped in at this point and due to her persistanceand brilliant Customer Service The Ticket was delivered the same day (Friday4th August). If it had not been for the lady's brilliant service I would have missed the game. This is typical of the Hotel Staffs willingness to help out and this why I will, whenever possible, always book this Hotel when I am in Amsterdam..

The location was just perfect for I came in via train from Paris. Breakfast was great and very filling lots of choices too. I had a great time wandering around the vicinity w/c was the center of Amsterdam. Rooms was just very small for my liking but otherwise clean and sufficient.

Perfect location, very close to the train station. Be wary of the local shops if needing to pick up any essentials... 6 euro for a toothbrush! :|

We had asked for a Queen or double bed. When we arrived we were told that we had been "upgraded" to a bigger room. We had 2 twin beds shoved together, which was not comfortable at all. We did not complain, maybe we should have. The room was small, with wood beams in the ceilings. Nice atmosphere, not too noisy with the trams outside, but Trams are convenient to get about town. Bathroom was nice. and clean. The breakfast buffet was good. Nice variety, plenty of food. Made the hotel a good value, considering food prices there. Central Station very close.

I booked my first trip to Amsterdam and decided to stay at the Avenue hotel. I got there at 6 am and I wasn't able to check into my room so I had to pay $50 euro for another room and check into my room at 2 pm. I wasn't that happy about that but the free continental breakfast made up for it. The hotel is conviniently located in the middle of the city. You are within walking distance of a lot of museums, red light district, barney's coffee shop. If not you have the tram right across the street that you can take anywhere in the city. The phone in my room didn't work and I told the receptionist in the lobby and she looked lost and didn't know what to do about that. Other than that everything else was good.

My friend and I had a pleasant stay at the Avenue Hotel Amsterdam over a weekend in November. It was our first visit and we had no knowledge of the Dutch language, unfortunately, but the staff was very friendly and English-speaking, and very helpful when we asked what we could do in the city or asked to book a cab for us on our way back to the airport. The room was clean and comfortable though we occasionally noticed from the smell that our neighbors were smoking. We were also grateful for the free Wifi internet access. The city is small and easy to move about to start with, but the hotel location definitely helped us explore with ease.

The single room was very small but the bathroom was modern and clean. The bed was too soft. Location is excellent, breakfast (included) was basic and crowded. I would stay at this hotel in future as well, since the price/comfort ratio was quite all right.

The hotel was in the center of town. Very convenient to the shopping, sights and more. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only down point to the hotel was there was no iron or ironing facilities in the room. And there was only small wall lighting in the bedroom which made it pretty dark.

I am a repeat guest at this hotel. Prefer to stay here as it is close to Amsterdam Central Station, on several streetcar lines, convenient to shopping and dining. It has a fantastic breakfast buffet included in the room rate, pleasant staff and well kept rooms. I purchased this hotel with airfare on Orbitz and got an even better deal with the package air/hotel rate. Ask for room to the rear ( off main street) and you will get a very nice quiet nights sleep, too

The hotel is only a few minutes away from the train station and near the tram line. The breakfast was really good, the best bread, eggs, meat, cereals, etc. It was enough food to last until dinner. ALL of the staff were friendly and helpful. One day I was given a towel and it was almost completely shredded in the middle, ha! I had one tiny bar of soap for the entire week.. It was an adventure, but if I am in Amsterdam I might stay there again. They covered the important things like being quiet, safe, and at a good location. Why not!!

I have stayed in the Avenue before and find it to be an ideal place to stay as it is only 5 Mins from Central Station and the Damrak. It is also on one of the main Tram Lines and is therefore easy to get to anywhere to wish to visit within the City.

This hotel is close to Amsterdam Centraal Station so the location is great. We had a triple room for 3 nights for three people and then a double for 2 nights for 2 people. The triple room was great but the double room was tiny. The bathroom in the double room was new but very badly designed. When you had a shower the whole bathroom got wet including toilet and toilet paper!! There were features that made it a 3 star but in my opinion the room size is also important and the double room was too small.

Very friendly staff. Excellent location. Hotel very clean. The only problem I had with this hotel was the shower. The shower head not clean which is quite dangerous and can lead to spread of infection to those who use it. However the bath was fine and over all we will be going back again.

A perfectly respectable hotel very conveniently located close to the Railway station. It had several quickly functioning lifts. We arrived early but as our room was ready so we were able to check in.The room was clean, apart from a few marks on the carpet, and the bathroom had a deep long bath and a good shower overhead. Despite being on a main street there was no traffic noise and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was adequate although the breakfast room seemed rather crowded whilst I was there.
