Avalon Reef Club Isla Mujeres Guest Reviews
Awsomely located hotel right on the reef. Our room was on the open ocean side with waves crashing below our windor. this place must have been great when it was new. Now it is a bit rough around the edges. Staff friendly and helpful. Could use a lick of paint and some fixture replacement. Rdiculously expensive wifi, but you can walt 2 blocks to a cafe with good speed. Not bad for the 70US per night we spent

Great location , but have expectations that the food at the hotel is not very good. The rooms are no thrill but great views and we had a great time. Eat in town especially Lola Valentina best in my opinion. Avalon did however have the coldest bottled beer, Modelo Light my fav.

The only complaint is the entrance to room is quite far. Restaturant is toooo slow. Kinda over priced

The property is beautiful. It's on a small island accessible only via a wooden bridge. Very private with private beaches. If you stay on this island be sure to research the hotel location! Some of them are packed side-by-side with a lot of commercialism on the beach (yuck). Avalon is not like that. The scenic ocean is on one side and the quiet bay is on the other with great swimming and good snorkeling. You can snorkel in a small round sandy bay on one side of the access bridge or wind around towards the ocean where there is some coral and a greater variety of sea life. We saw many rays, a variety of small and medium fish, starfish and sea urchins. There is a dive shop and boats on site. We didn't dive on this trip but the dive staff seemed very friendly. There is also a small circular swimming "hole" on the ocean side called the "kings bath" - very neat place to take a dip. Full of fish. We stayed in one of their oceanfront villas (microwave and fridge) for five nights. Rooms were a little rough but overall were very nice and clean. Restaurant is great and staff is very, very friendly. Town is a short walk and is safe and quaint with many small restaurants and shops - cheap and good. We also rented a golf cart at the hotel and did a tour of the island. Can't recommend this place enough. Perfect for couples or families with kids. It really is paradise.

We spent a week at this wonderful place in New Year's time. We had read multiple negative reviews but did have nothing to complain whatsoever. Everything worked well from the beginning to end. If you are used to 5-star conditions and expect something of that quality, choose something else. If you are just happy with a nice place, great location and helpful staff I would definitely recommend.
