Auto Hogar Hotel Barcelona
4.6 out of 5

Take your own toiletries as they only provide one small piece of soap. Try to have a room away from the lift, as people slam the lift doors. The breakfast is superb, and much better than you would expect from a two star hotel. The location is great, very close to the Ramblas and the Marina complex. As a lone traveller, I would definitely stay there again.

Breakfast was poor. The room was really expensive for nothing. There was no window in the room. Like a cellar.

This is a noisy hotel, but I knew that when I booked. - You could hear flushing toilets all night. Not so good was the room being very 'stuffy'. It is a pity that you can not turn off the heating in the room. The room was very clean and toilets etc were cleaned daily. Breakfast was good value, but gets a bit boring. [The food for breakfast is not the best quality - but then, it is a cheap hotel]. Location is brilliant. Close to the underground and 5 mins walk from the centre of Barcelona. Well worth staying here.

Staff were helpfull, good breakfast and nice room. We had a corner room that we think was bigger than others and had a balcony. Great location for exploring Barcelona.

Excellent location - close to La Rambla and Metro. Laundromat also nearby. Room adequate - shower was rather confined but did the job - some street noise due to late night revellers. Great breakfast.

Quality of the rooms was very poor, electrical points were hanging off the wall , most walls required painting and the overall quality of the decor was extremely poor.

Paper thin walls, so take earplugs, and don´t get a room near the lifts, as you will never sleep. I didn´t but i was moved after first night on request. Reception staff very helpful, breakfast basic but adequate. Next to metro, so easy to get around. Rooms small but tidy. Overall, for the money it was ok.

The hotel matched the reviews we had read: friendly english speaking reception, facilities worn but clean, excellent location for the price, extremely noisy (we had brought ear plugs in anticipation & used them). The hotel car park (Euro 13.60 per day) only fit 10 cars so book ahead if you need to use it. The breakfast is mediocre (hot items only comprising of baked beans & mini frankfurters) but the coffee & bread are excellent.

I know the price was very cheap, but the room was too small for 2 people, the heating started at 7 pm and it was on the 14th of December, bed too small for 2, bathrom too small for one, breakfast ok, but the reception staff was very helpful. Anyway I wouldn't stay there the second time.

No heating, in the middle of December makes it tough at night. Employees are very rude.

For the "special price" guests there is an annex in the back which you have to access through the parking garage to one of two very old elevators. It seems as if Auto Hogar bought out a much lower category hotel to their back and connected the two. Rooms small but clean. I had an interior room. Only noise was from the other guests. Staff friendly and efficient. Location is very good due to the subway station entrance 1/2 block away. Within walking distance of the Ramblas without the undesirable red light district ambience of the same. "Hot" breakfast is probably a misnomer with the only hot item being the beans and small franks. You can toast some bread. The breakfast waiting line went from the first down the stairs to the ground floor. No internet in rooms. TV small and reception very poor - no cable or remote.

we were very happy to stay in the auto hogar hotel, which is located very close to the center and happens to be very close to the metro station "parallel". perfect starting point for all tours! our room was at the backside of the house, with a window, no view, but it was quiet, and our bathroom was clean and the shower great. the people at the reception were very helpful and friendly. the breakfast was standard, but there is a lovely street cafe outside, just a few meters up parallel, where one can sit and have a great cortado in the sun!! we would come back here any time!

Even though the hotel had internet access there was not the use of a printer. As I had to "check in on line" for my return flight and print the Boarding Card this was not helpful and me meant trying to find an internet cafe with print facilities in Barcelona which I had never visited before. I did find a good one just off the Ramblas which was cheaper.

The hotel needs to be renovated. The room is very small and basic, and the bathroom is a little bit old. Our room faces to the main road, it's quite noisy day and night, even we closed the window, it didn't help much. But the bed was comfortable, and we were too tired, so it's still ok for us. The breakfast buffet is very very good. And the location is excellent, the metro station is just in front of the hotel, only after 3 stops, you'll be at the city centre Catalunya Plaza, you can take the airport bus or city sightseeing bus there. From the hotel to the La Rambla Avenue, it only takes 10 minutes walking, that's great! Anyway, we can't ask too much for a basic hotel in Barcelona. For a short stay, this hotel is ok.

For the price of accommodation in Barcelona today this is good value. It is exactly as it is advertised, not overstated in any way. You get what you pay for. Perfect location on Parallel Ave in the theatre district. The metro is very close and it is only a short walk to the harbour and La Rambla

The hotel is particulary good for first time travelers. Its main plus is the location and is within walking distance of the La Rambla. The Breakfast was adequate but combined with the price for then hotel it is difficult to complain. The Staff were extremeley helpfull and Polite and the rooms were basic but clean. Overall I would recommend the hotel for a short stay at the right price.
