Tamworth Hotels

The small city has two other notable nicknames. The “First City of Lights” moniker infers how Tamworth got on the electric street lights bandwagon before any other town in the Southern Hemisphere. Another nickname, the "National Equine Capital of Australia", fits in with the country music legacy in Tamworth and has a terrific poster-child in the impressive Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre. Built in 2008, the fine arena complex hosts a variety of rodeos, agricultural trade shows and livestock events throughout the year. The most famous event in Tamsworth, however, is the annual Country Music Festival. Over 50,000 fans flock to Tamsworth every January for the festival, which lures some of the best talent in the country. Important tourist attractions in Tamsworth include the Power Station Museum, Powerhouse Motorcycle Museum and Broken Head Nature Reserve.
