The cluster of underwater life on display at the Aquarium is one of the most comprehensive and diverse on the planet. With over 12,000 animals spread out over several aquatic environments that mirror the interior and coastal waters of Australia, the Sidney Aquarium operates with a precise conservation mission in mind. From saltwater crocodiles to dugongs, platypi to octopi, the facility has a number of colorful residents. Live feeds at the Great Barrier Reef Tank, Penguin habitat and Shark Tank take place throughout the day and draw big crowds.
Vitals and Stats
Sydney Aquarium is open every day of the year from 9h00 to 22h00 (18h00 on December 25 and December 31) and is accessible by bus, monorail, ferry or train. In 2006, Sydney Wildlife World opened right next to Sydney Aquarium. The zoo features over 6,000 animals native to Australia.
Reservations can be made in advance for a standard or VIP tour of the aquarium.
