The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) opened in 1991, but has been significantly expanded and renovated since then. Today, the new-look MCA is a major tourist attraction, particularly for artists, contemporary art lovers and art students, and is also an outstanding example of art-deco design. The Museum of Contemporary Art is conveniently accessible as it is located in close proximity to the public transportation hub of Circular Quay. As a result, visitors can opt for bus, train or ferry services which connect this hub from most areas of the city, and then walk a short distance to the museum. Government-run buses and ferries are the best and most inexpensive options to access and explore main attractions around the harbour, including the MCA. Sydney’s roads are well organized and driver-friendly, so you may hire a car or ride a taxi to the museum if you prefer to.
