Stawell enjoys comfortable temperatures throughout most of the year. During the winter the temperature reaches a low of 3°C (37°F), while during the summer the temperature rarely reaches 30°C (86°F). Stawell does not get much rain, making it an ideal travel destination.
Getting There & Around
Flights arrive at Melbourne International Airport. A train line runs from Melbourne to Ballarat and Ararat, from which the V/Line runs five daily buses to Stawell. It is a three-hour drive from Melbourne to Stawell along the Great Southern Touring route (a route which offers some of the best scenery in the region).
Getting around in Stawell is best done by car, as there is little to no public transportation within the area. There is a daily bus that can take travellers from Stawell to Halls Gap in Grampians National Park; otherwise, private buses and charters can be booked for group travel.« Hide
