Portland Climate
The coastal plain south of the Great Dividing Range, where Portland is found, experiences a mild climate; the air from the Southern Ocean produces warm summers and cold winters. The average temperatures for winter, June through August, are around 58°F (14°C). As for spring, summer and fall, the temperatures range between 65°F (18°C) and 73°F (23°C).

To reach Portland, travellers fly into Portland Airport. By car, the town is connected to Melbourne via the Princes Highway and to Hamilton through the Henty Highway.
Known for its Great South West Walk, the town is great for walking. The track is 155 miles (249 km) long and begins at the visitor centre. Tourists will enjoy walks through gorges, forests and cliff tops.
