The Western Australia Land and People exhibit takes you through the evolution of the land, people, and the animals from the times of the dinosaurs to the present, investigating the ways in which people have affected the environment along the way. Another exhibit called Diamonds to Dinosaurs explorers the solar system, origins of the universe, diamonds created before the sun, and rocks from the Moon and Mars.

The Dampier Marine Gallery showcases all the inhabitants of the waters around Australia. The Mammal Gallery displays every mammal found in Western Australia including bison, camels, deer, and elephants. The Museum also features bird and butterfly galleries. The Old Gaol is an exhibit with all the old tools, machines, and other treasures from early history in Western Australia.

If you’re taking the kids, make sure to visit some of the interactive displays featured at the Western Australian Museum like the tunnel of light where you can create your own kaleidoscope, travel down the hall of mirrors and play with lenses. Kids can also stand inside a camera, learn about the human skull, and take a free guided tour.
