Delve into the caves, take a dip in the swimming hole, or go on an exploration into one of the largest old-timey gold-digging operations in the world at the Oriental Claims Historic Area. LAKES ENTRANCE EVENTS
Take a figurative trip to the Arctic at the Advanced Dog Sled Challenge in August.
For a chilled out Mardi Gras with a health and well-being angle, head to the Spring Migration Festival in September.
For some theatre and dance under the vibrant glow of fireworks, October’s High Country Festival and Spring Arts is a must.
Parade along at the annual Seafarers Multicultural Festival each December.
WHEN TO GO
· Lakes Entrance is generally warmer than the rest of Victoria.
· Winter temperatures can top 20ºC (68ºF), and there are relatively few rainy days.
· Summers tend to be quite mild and are the perfect time for aquatic adventuring.
GETTING AROUND
· Probably the easiest way to get around town is to drive your own wheels, or rent a car for a few days.
· There are plenty of bike tracks around Lakes Entrance. And with so much nature to explore, a day of biking or walking will do wonders!
· There isn’t much by way of public transport, but there are plenty of buses and coaches coming in and out.
