Emerald Climate
Emerald enjoys a subtropical climate; summers (December-February) are wet, and the area receives nearly half of its annual rainfall during this season. Annual temperatures range between a high of 86°F (30°C) and low of 62°F (17°C). Yearly precipitation for the region is 19 inches (483 mm).
Getting There & Around
Flights arrive at Emerald Airport, about 4 miles (6 km) from the town’s centre. Found at the intersection of A7 and A4, the town is easy to access from the airport by taxi, bus or hired car.
There are regular bus services operating throughout the area, and the Spirit of the Outback train goes from Rockhampton to Longreach. Vehicles are always available for hire.
