Coles Bay gets about 300 sunny days annually. Summers can get very hot, although the average temperature is 25°C (77°F). Winters can become quite cool, with temperatures dipping just below freezing at night.
Getting There & Around
Coles Bay is located between Hobart and Launceston. Both these cities have airports with regular daily flights. It is also possible to reach Launceston from Melbourne by taking the overnight ferry, followed by Redline bus service from Launceston to Coles Bay.
It is easiest to travel around Coles Bay and the area by car, though much of Freycinet National Park can only be seen on foot. It is possible to travel along the coastline by boat, although permits are required to drop anchor in the National Park.
