The RNA Showgrounds, also called the Brisbane Exhibition Ground, has been in existence since 1875 when it was made over from a swamp to a proper arena with an asphalt ground and one humble stand. Today the arena boasts more than 20,000 seats, and whilst it was once a popular venue for cricket, tennis, cycling, rugby, and Australian Rules Football, it is now used mostly for Australian League baseball and motor sports. Getting There
Brisbane International Airport is twelve kilometres from RNA Showgrounds via Route 26. If you prefer public transport over driving, the Airtrain, Coach Trans shuttle bus, and the Airport Courtesy Bus are all inexpensive alternatives, but a taxi is also quite reasonable if you share the fare with another passenger. Motor coaches and trains serve the city from many other parts of Australia, and cruise ships arrive regularly at Portside Wharf. RNA Showgrounds is reachable by public bus and train, and the closest rail stations are Brunswick Street and Bowen Hills.
