Auckland Harbour Oaks Apartment
4 out of 5

Hard to beat this for location, just a few yards off Queen St and only a 5 min walk to the Britomart and Ferry Terminals. Perhaps some with young families might be put off by the close proximity of some 'Gentleman's clubs' across the road, but to be honest we did not find this troublesome. The rooms were clean and comfortable and represented very good value for money. The only criticism I would have is the absence of wifi, a big omission these days.

While service, location and staff responses were satisfactory we found the lifts very frustrating and for all the "security reasons" for limiting access to other floors our guests were unable to visit other rooms and my access to elderly parents on another floor was very frustrating.

Wouldnt go back and stay there again. Thought it looked good on the net with a great location but I was wrong. The room was old and tired and noisy too with the building and road works outside. Still cant work out why the balcony was so large too. On turning up I asked about car parking and was told by the concierge that I needed to contact the hotel directly despite sending an email to them! Wouldent recommend staying there again!

Good location to downtown with views but noise from Britomart area (Sat night) and the wind howling down the corridor (36 floor). Rooms tidy. Possibly recommend to a friend if they intend to party all night

For an Auckland city break, you can't really beat this for comfort and value for money. Located just off Queen Street, and only a 5 minute walk from Britomart and the ferry terminal. Rooms were very comfortable indeed as well as spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only minor niggle was no WiFi in rooms, but this was not a major issue. If they addressed this little small issue then I would describe this as perfect.

10 out of 5,cannot get any better, I booked a suprisor two bed room apt, used promo code from retailmeornot.com get 5% ( must pay with AUD ) off total amount, and sent the request want the highest floor as possible, made carpark reservation before we arrived, then we got a room at the end of the hall way on the 36th floor with harbour and city view ( but i only paid city view price) its so modern and clean, stunning view with handy location. I did see some bad comments before i booked this hotel, but i preparde everything before i arrive, everything was far more better than we wants, defenetly will stay there again, the best hotel experience in NZ.

There is a charge of 25 nz dollars for parking. This did not show on the info. All appliances were unplugged without instructions on how to use them.

this is the hotel for you if you are looking for a nice trip and not too exspensive. There are not many staff in the hotel but the service is good. cleaned room every day, nice view to harbour. It is really cheap for that value and no extra cost for using internet or even international calling

had a great kitchen for us to make dinner for a big night out, then a hot shower in the modern bathroom, and a sound nights sleep on a comfortable bed.

Overall the staff were friendly and courteous and the rooms comfortable, clean and in good condition, although the lobby looked as if it needed a serious upgrade. The location was good in that it was Central Aucklnad and close to all the amenities. However the nosie levels of neighbouring guests carried and made it difficult to relax.

We had a room on the 34th floor, looking over to the west, across the City, the Bridge and upper harbour. it was beautiful at night. The location was fabulous for us. We had an easy stroll down to the waterfront for dinner and another easy walk to the Art Gallery the next day. The room and facilities were spotless. A HUGE superking bed, we almost lot each other. Only bit of disappointment was the breakfast of a baked muffin, a muesli bar and a yoghurt - a bit more like an afternoon tea. More tea and coffee facilities in the room would have been good too, but overall - very highly recommend this Hotel.

Day One: Arrived in the evening to find that both beds were missing bedding, the yogurt part of our breakfast had been sitting out on the kitchen bench since that morning and three light bulbs were burnt out. The duty manager was able to replace the yogurt, but didn't have access to the laundry cupboard. He was able to get us some sheets which we used to make the bed ourselves. We learned when checking in that hotel parking costs $20 per day, but that the small hotel parking garage was full and that we would have to use public parking. Public parking costs $16/hour between 8am and 6pm! Day two: Before leaving the hotel for the day we listed the problems again for the morning duty manager and added the fact that the toilet brush was broken and unusable. When we returned that evening, the beds had been made with the correct bedding, two of the three light bulbs had been replaced and the broken toilet brush had not been replaced. Reception was again informed of the problems that needed attention. Day three: The thrid light bulb was replaced while we were out, but the broken toilet brush had not been looked after. It was only after bringing this to the attention of the duty manager again that it got replaced. It was only after some arm twisting that I was able to persuade the manager to provide free parking for 12 hours in exchange for our troubles. Day four: While my travelling companion was using the hotel supplied hair dryer, the dryer got caught in her hair. Her hair had to be cut free of the dryer. It turns out that the safety guard on the back of the dryer was missing. The female duty manager took the dryer, didn't apologise to my travelling companion and acted like the incident was no big deal. Although the male duty manager that we dealt with was aplogetic and appeared to do his best, the female manager consistently displayed a bad attitude.

we have been traveling to different countries, staying in numerous hotels and this was the worst one regarding the staff, the hotel itself was ok, it was a little too complicated to get in and out of the hotel but it wasnt too big of a deal. the room didnt smell great but other than that the room itself was fine. the staff was really the thing i did not like. the guys at the front desk were very rude and unhelpful. we had purchased this hotel with free internet and free breakfast. when i called to ask to use our hour of free "wifi" the guy at the front desk said "we dont have wifi here, im not sure what you are talking about" i thought it was my mistake so i went back to check the email confirmation, it said free internet so i called again and told him what our email said he goes "you said you wanted free wifi, not internet, we dont have wifi, we have internet though" i thought it was rude he didnt just clarify that when i called the first time, he obviously knew what i was talking about. we never got our free breakfast either. upon checking out my friend handed him her american credit card, it declined and he said it was her credit card. she has been using it the 5 months we have been abroad and it never declined. he tried again and said it must be her card. my friend gave him another card and it declined too, i asked if it was his machine because both credit cards have worked everywhere else. he got very mad and said no snobishly. i then handed him my credit card that i had been using for 5 months and it declined too. no way were all 3 credit cards the issue, he then quickly said "oh are these international? are machine doesnt accept international credit cards" he knew we were international. we ended up having to be sent the bill in an email, what kind of hotel in a city doesnt take "international" credit cards?

A compact room which had what was needed, but not a lot of space. Comfy bed, had limited street noise - which was surprising, which means we had a good nights sleep. Having car parking was a bonus. Thanks for the fantastic breakfast.
