Very friendly, helpful & efficient staff. This hotel is very centrally located. Only 5 to 10 minutes across the Harbour Bridge to the North Shore. Walking distance to many city sites including just a few minutes walk to the Sky City Casino. Despite being so central I didn't find the room noisy at all. Parking may be a problem though I'm not sure. I would certainly recommend the hotel and will stay again next time I'm in Auckland.

The Studio serviced apartment was all that you need when visiting Auckland and wanting a good location that is not too expensive. Access to shopping, transport, and eating places was good, and there were places to shop for your own food. The Malaysian restaurant (Mustard Seed) served good quality food at reasonable prices. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and accomodation comfortable.

Very pleased with the value for money at this place. We arrived in extremely early (7am) and they still let us check in for an early morning nap. Staff were helpful, but not overly chatty, but we got what we needed so that was fine. Would stay here again.

Spacious room with a kitchenette which was a bonus. Good central location and still quiet enough to sleep. Surprised that the hotel advertises the rooms as having air-conditioning as that isn't the case. The room had three free-standing heaters though which warmed it up quite quickly.

It's my third time at Auckland City, so I guess that should say about the Hotel. It ticks most boxes for me. Although you should be aware that most rooms aren't airconditioned. The room has a cooler and a heater(if needed) but if you pick the right seasons you won't need either as you can open the window for some of Aucklands' fresh air. The Hotel is walking distance to most areas. No buses in Hobson St, but they're not far away. It's not flash, but it's great value for money.

We stayed at this hotel a few times already, our experiences has always been very pleasant, but this time things has changed a bit. We stayed for 4 nights, and on the first 2 nights, the hotel's hot water system failed at around 11:00pm, so we basically couldn't have shower for 2 nights. The staff did not offer any compensation when confronted, and just said "sorry, it will be fixed tomorrow" This is not the response I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The hotel offers parking space at $25 per day, but there is only limited space, the hotel asks for you to leave your car key with them when you park, so that they can move your car around to fit more cars in to the basement. And when we had to retrieve our car couple of times during the day, the reception staff (I think her name plate said Kate) was giving us really bad attitude, made us feel unwelcome, the experiences was not pleasant at all. The overall quality of the facility, apart from the shower, was still as good as before, but just improve a few things I guess.

The hotel is not so far from queen street. There are convenience strores around the hotel. The hotel is a little thrown off centre but they offered not noisy room. You have to be explicited during your reservation to get the desired room. They sell rooms at attractive prices for a 4 stars hotel.

ach apparently has been recently renovated. everything looks new. it is in the central business district so it is close to many of the auckland tourist sites, only two blocks from the sky tower. if i could change anything, i'd move it a little closer to the waterfront for quicker access to various transportation nodes...and make most outings uphill going out, and downhill on the return. but what really made the hotel so good, was something more remarkable these days. the staff was simply fantastic. from check-in to check-out, they took our welfare and comfort as their personal mission to ensure. highly recommended.

Excellent value for money, friendly and informative staff. Room was very large for a double - nice flat screen TV with Sky movies and sport included. Only negative thing is that there were damp patches + peeling paint on the ceiling above the shower.

All in all, very good. Large, comfortable room, little things like tea/coffee, heater and fan all included. Excellent location, just back from the main street of Auckland, with restaurants, shops and public transport nearby. Internet charges are crazy, but they allowed 30 mins of free wifi in the lobby per day. I enjoyed my stay - recommended!

The room was clean and had everything needed for a pleasant stay. The in house parking was not acceptable due to not enough parks and having to move the vehicle for other guest to come and go.A fee was charged which surprised me. First time I have ever paid for parking.Would have liked drinking choc included and a shower cap.Overall not to bad.

Overall the 'Hobson' was what I expected. The staff were great and very polite and the new restaurant on the ground floor is excellent with the staff doing their best to make sure everything was as it should have been. Try the chicken satay for starters...yummy. My two brick bats however are that the shower stall in my room needed a really good clean and one half (?) of the king bed was very sad and flat. I spent my nights climbing over to the 'good' side and then falling back into the hole. Fix these two things, something I never even think about in other hotels, and my review would be better. The house staff were very good and I appreciated their attention...hence the tip.
