Astral Tower and Residences at The Star
4 out of 5

Overall quite satisfied with the Astral Apartments. More so that I got it at 40% off when booking, which is what the price should be. If I Paid full price rating would be much lower. Overall a clean apartment, nice view, good Air Con in room, big fridge, microwave, kettle, etc. Good choice of TV channels also. The staff were very helpful when asked questions about Sydney or when needing something from the car parked down stairs to bags being brought up. Cons: Did take a while to bring our luggage up from valet. Which brings me to my biggest issue. Valet parking at $26 a day is quite excessive considering normal price for non-hotel stayers is $32. I suggest either make it free or very cheap as it is quite a deterrent if staying for more then a couple days. Also the pillows that came on the beds were so thick and firm. You do have a choice to ask for different pillows, but will be brought up the next day. So had to sleep with no pillow half way through the night after waking up with a sore neck in the middle of the night. Also the King bed was to double beds joined together with some sort of padded strap down the middle so you couldn't sleep in the middle of the bed as you could feel the strap.

Went with a small group for a friends 40th birthday & was the perfect place to stay. All the entertainment you need either in the hotel complex, or within a short walk! Will definitely be back

Good place for a holiday. Luckily for special discounts the luxury was affordable. only thing that let us down is the Pool being renovated and not able to win any jackpots whislt in the casino. Bugger!! other than that, my wife loved the shopping and it was a good stay. Will return again one day.

I belived that this hotel had a swimming Pool. The pool was under repair and I was directed to a public pool 1.5 kilometers away. I walked to the aquatic centre to discover the pool was closed. I was then allowed to use the pool next door. I was not happy!!!!!

Check in was swift .We had a red eye flight & were very exhausted. This was taken into account and we were able to check into our room earlier as we had an early afternoon wedding on the day of our arrival.Conversion plugs for cell phones were loaned on request with great courtesy and promptnes---so were housekeeping requests. Only disappointment was our request for a wake call for 5.30 am was delayed by 15 minutes!!!! No telephone call --but a door knock and personal wake up call---but 15 minutes later!!!! so it was a scramble to get the airport!11 Apart from this hic-cup all was superb.Loved the soft music & live piano playing at the entrance of the hotel. Will definitely come back again given special offers!

The front desk staff were rude and dismissive at checkin. We have stayed at this property on many previous occasions and could not reason why the level of service was so poor on this occasion compared to our previous visits. The reason for the huge disparity in the level of service became evident when we were informed that because we had booked through a third party. I have worked in the tourism industry for more than 30 years and never heard of this as a variance to determine service delivery levels. What needs to happen? Third party booking companies need to ensure that the contractual arrangements with accommodation providers are such that the customer receives the same level of service as if they had booked direct or if this cannot be guaranteed than the featured property is not listed by the third party OR guests are warned to not stay at this property if booking through a third party. Overall a very disappointing stay at the Star Hotel from a property that is usually of a high standard.

We had relatives from UK and managed to get a very good special on 2 bedroom apartment for their last night before returning to chilly UK. What a great place to stay. Five minute walk to Darling Harbour and King Street Wharves and restaurants and bars. If you are going on a cruise it is very handy. Just get a ferry across the bay to King St or around to terminal at Circular Quay. We had stayed here before and found the changes in casino area were not to our needs. We are not gamblers but used to love the restaurants and bars that overlooked the gaming areas. Ideal for packages linked with shows at Lyric Theatre. Apartments are fabulous and have EVERYTHING you will need. Plenty of room and privacy for 2 couples or families. Kitchen is ridiculously large (for holiday needs) who cooks much on holidays, but if you want to, it has it all. We stayed in Pyrmont view room, and it was fine. City view would be much better, but also costs more, and you don't really stay in room long enough to warrant extra costs. Breakfasts are very expensive, considering you can walk to Darling Harbour and get for a fraction of the price. Great meal deals at Pyrmont Bridge Hotel. I had rump steak and mashed potato for lunch, and it was only $8!!!!! and it was delicious. Hubby had fish and chips and was also great. If you are not a gambler or don't get room at a special price, I feel it would be better staying at one of the dozens of hotels in and around Darling Harbour.

The Astral Towers is a great place to stay if you are looking for accommodation close to Darling Harbour and of course is part of the Star City Casino complex. The 2 bedroom suites have 2 bathrooms/showers and separate dining, kitchen and lounge areas. The 20m balcony is huge. Exceptional value if you are looking for self-contained accommodation with the added bonus of all the hotel amenities and resources ie. room service, daily room cleaning etc etc.

Our room provided a lounging area and a bedroom area, so good to have space. The set up was perfect, the amenities always first class. The location great. This hotel provides security for moving from Casino to Hotel at any time of day or night for all. We love this hotel and the complex in general

Overall experience was very disappointing and certainly not value for money. Delayed check in time of one hour. Left sitting in the foyer and no transition room available when I was travelling with a disabled and elderly guest. Not clear explanations of the use of key card and the television reception was extremely poor. Not allocated a two bed room when two adults were travelling.

We were upgraded to a Junior Suite which consisted of a two bedroom apartment which meant that we could walk to the supermarket and buy breakfast items and have it back at the unit. It was fantastic - only negatives was slow lifts and way too many people in the pool area - the pool is fairly small for the amount of guests. We had a fantastic time though and would certainly stay there again
