Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel
4 out of 5

The greatest location you could ask for on Waikaki Beach, room was reasonable, not cleaned fully every day, structure is a bit old and needs updating, staff mostly very friendly. I would recommend to all as location was everything.

Really enjoyed the location, staff were nice and friendly and room was comfortable. Easy access to transport. Location was the hotels best asset as beach just across the road. Breakfast was ordinary, sitting by pool eating food of our laps. Tiki bar and grill provided great food and entertainment. Just wished there was a kettle in our room to make a coffee. Good tourist info for sightseeing based at the hotel. Overall we were pleased with Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel.

Good :Great location, views if ocean view, closeness to everything including bus routes, clean rooms and very friendly staff. Bads: Homeless everywhere at times harrassing you for money or cigarettes, expensive at the hotels bars and eatery Tiki restaurant and bar, Breakfast no hot breakfast unless you pay extra eg eggs and omelette otherwise danish, cereal. No coffee making facility in rooms but has a fridge, paying $5 per day for use of the safe in the room and no smoking policy in hotel area big fines (if you have to smoke go on foot path and be harassed by homeless.

This hotel is really great if you want something not too over the top. The pool area is quite small and can get very busy at breakfast time. There were only about 6 tables to cater for all the guests. Reception area (near pool) was way too busy and you can queue up to half hour sometimes longer, to be attended to. Overall, the beachfront room had exquisite views.

Although the building itself is reasonably well maintained, clean and in fairly good location, this is not the hotel I would book if I were to go to Hawaii again. The high turnover of customers - lot of them loud younger generation that come and go by the busload - makes it hard to get an almost personalised and friendly service you would expect from a tropical holiday place. The staff at the lobby/reception is rather ordinary, unfriendly with a touch of rudeness in the way they answer any queries you may have. The ladies are probably the worse offenders. The best/friendliest service received was from bell boy and concierge at the street level reception. The lift service is inadequate for that amount of traffic and is, to say the least, rather painful to use. The idea to request a lift using your room key is not a bad one but the fact that the lift assigned to you may be waiting for more people going to different floors only leads to overloading and more wasted time to offload the extra.... Whereas breakfast, well that could be a story on itself. Short sessions, 06:30 to 0900 finishing early most of the time. Some of the available food are cleaned out by 07:15 and not replaced/refilled, so if you were to have a bit of a sleeping in, forget it. Not enough chairs and coffee tables to seat a third of the patrons at any one time. Really, it looks more like a refugies camp than a 4 stars hotel. I wished more than once, they could have a look how things are done in South East Asia - places like Thailand, HongKong, China etc. Overall some good, lots of bad. The price is not a deciding factor.

It's too crowd and noisy. Don't think about having a complementary breakfast. If you really like red color, you can bear the room color.

Location! Location! Location! The room was not all that big, but if you're in Hawaii, you shouldn't be staying inside! The free breakfasts every morning are served poolside and you can even take it 100 feet to the beach.

My husband and I stayed at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel for 4 nights in January. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach with lots of shopping and restaurants right out the door. The international marketplace is close as well. The rooms were small but clean and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the continental poolside breakfast that was served each morning. Besides a nice selection of complimentary pastries, cereals, juices, coffees, fresh fruits and yougerts, guests had the option of ordering omlettes and Belgian waffles at a very reasonable price. Additionally, the hotel provided each guest with a small collapsible cooler to pack with food to take to the beach or on tours. What a treat! Another amenity we enjoyed was the efficient elevator system. The were always available and very fast. All in all, the hotel was a wonderful find.

For its location at the edge of Waikiki and for the price, this place really can't be beat. Others have commented on how loud it can be, but I didn't have any problems with my ocean view (not ocean front) room. The room is not spacious, but really, why would you spend lots of time there when there are so many things to do outside? The hotel also has the best continental breakfast buffet I've ever seen.

Wow! Staying at the Aston Waikiki was the best choice for my family. The location is absolutely perfect for all activities, including visiting the zoo, the beach, and for the locations of resaurants and stores. The Aston is at the end of a long group of hotels, therefore access to the less crowded public beach was super. The best snorkeling of our trip was 2 blocks away. The "Breakfast on the beach" was a great way to start the day, and being able to take extra food to your room for later was a bonus. The staff was always friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again! PS Very quick elevators!

Aston needs to rethink the breakfast that is included in the package. The pastries are way too sweet, no proteins are on offer, and there isn't enough seating in the breakfast/pool area for the number of guests who would like to sit and relax at breakfast time - makes breakfast a slightly stressful experience rather than a relaxing one. Wifi is free only in the pool area which is a bit small-minded of the hotel and so is the fact that they charge $3/day - decidedly not useful in promoting good customer vibes.

older but comfortable. Ideal location and very gracious staff. Poor wi-fi but the breakfast at the pool almost made up for it.

We stayed at the Aston from December 17-30th (6th floor). The hotel has a great location, beautiful views. Staff is very helpful and friendly, from check-in to housekeeping, the valets, to morning breakfast musicians. The valet service, although expensive, was fast, helpful and much easier than trying to park anywhere near the hotel. The hotel provides free towels and beach chairs so you can walk across the road and sit right on the beach in about 3 minutes. Breakfast is free but you have to compete for seats around the pool. Fruit, yoghurt, cereal, lots of pastries and coffee. For eggs and waffles you had to pay extra $5 each. Over all it was great for the value not the best hotel in Waikiki, but very reasonable. Nothing fancy, but clean, good services, near almost everything, yet still a little bit out of the busy center. If you are on a budget, then this is a great option for you.

Great location. Beach is right across the street. I liked that the kids got a free gift on arrival. They provide beach towels and chairs, which is great. Staff was courteous and helpful. Microwave is available in the store on the first floor for the hotel's guests. Hotel's parking is expensive ($27). The free breakfast was okay. I wish they provided more hot items for the breakfast. There's free Wifi in the lobby but I wish they had free WiFi in the rooms.

Customer Service was great. Having the travel agencies desks in the lobby made it very easy to book tours and activities. It is looked reight at the end of Waikiki so there weren't as many people on the beach as there were farther up. Our only complaint was that we were located on the 21st floor, the same floor as the "coconut club". If you aren't into the night life and want to get to bed at a decent hour, stay on a different floor. People were loud going through the halls late into the night.

This hotel is located at a busy section in Waikiki. Even though it is close to the beach, you do have to cross a busy street to get there. The room is very average, especially the double beds, which are not very comfortable for two adults. The free breakfast is a big plus, making things simple in the morning. They charge $27 for parking each day, which is a surprise to me. There is no free wi-fi in the room.
