Aston Pacific Monarch Resort Honolulu Guest Reviews

Although the location is great and the amenities are OK, the staff, with a couple of exceptions, are rude and inattentive. Housekeeping consists of changing towels and making the bed, changing sheets every third day or so...AND THAT IS ABOUT IT! from outside the bathroom, I could see where I had been walking because the floor was never swept. Dust was collecting in my room so bad that I bought a Swiffer to do my own dusting. Vacuuming was done about 5 times during my visit (mind you I was in Honolulu on business from 06SEP11 to 01DEC11). When it was time to check out, not only could I not get a late checkout, but was told if I was going to my work that morning that I would need to check out at 5:00am! Do yourself a favor...pick another property. You'll be glad you did.

I booked this place because the website stated, "Enjoy our newly redesigned accommodations! All suites now have new 32" LCD high-definition TVs, new carpet, new bathroom and kitchen fixtures, energy-efficient contemporary lighting and customized furniture. One-bedroom suites have renovated kitchens including new appliances. " I read recent reviews warning that not all suites have been renovated. Unfortunately, we got a suite that was not yet renovated. We had a small, old tv, not that I go to Hawai'i to watch tv. The carpet was old and faded, but clean. The bathroom and kitchen were not updated. The couch had mismatched upholstery. The drapes were faded. In general, our suite was ugly, but functional and clean. Note that there is an additional daily amenity fee of $10 plus tax. Also, parking is $20/day, cash. The location is great, but be informed that you hear traffic and noise- very city. It was great to be so close to the beach, the hotels that have live music, the bars, and the restaurants. It was also nice to have a little more space than a normal hotel room and to have a kitchenette so that you don't have to go out for every meal. Our 14 month old liked to hang out in the room to take a break from the sun. If you have kids, be careful as the sliding doors to the lanai and the windows do not have screens or stoppers. If location and budget are your priorities, then this is a great place. It probably would have been better if we were in a renovated suite. I don't require luxury accommodations with fine art and expensive furniture, but it would have been nice to stay in a place that put a little more effort into making the place look and feel nice.

We booked a full ocean view room with kitchenette. Was a bit apprehensive when we entered the hotel as the lobby and lift were pretty dated. The room was newly done and we could view the ocean between the two Hyatt Regency hotel buildings. Location of this hotel is very good - almost all tour operators pick up from Hyatt that is 2 minutes walk away. Our room had a small balcony just enough to fit the chair so we would have our morning tea viewing the ocean. Could not keep the sliding door open while sleeping because of the traffic noise. Kitchenette was good with sufficient number of pots and pans. Wish they could include a medium size microwavable bowl. Housekeeping service was good - the beds were made everyday and the towels replaced. We did not use the DVD rental etc. facility - no point in being a couch potato when you are right on the ocean. So did not utilize the $10/day resort fee. My only complain is they charge an exorbitant $20/day for parking. The parking slots are very small and you see the towing trucks doing regular rounds of the garage. Also you need to pay everyday to extend your parking time. We parked at Waikiki Banyan and got a great deal $60/ 7 days and we could pay at once for 7 days. Overall a good experience with this place and would return again but park elsewhere :-).

The staff was friendly . The rooms were kept clean, The staff always greeted you . If there was going to be any work done in hotel it was posted 1 or2 days in advance.

Great location and a good value. Nothing fancy, but a clean nicely furnished room at a very reasonable price for it's location. We stayed for two nights to see the sights in Honolulu and it was perfect for that. Walking distance to Waikiki beach. Staff was very friendly and parking in unattached ramp was convenient and reasonably priced. If you are looking for a resort with all the amenities you may want look elsewhere but for a clean and reasonably priced hotel/condo you can't go wrong here.
