The white tigers at the Buenos Aires Zoo are a rare sight. These are truly magnificent creatures. They recently had six cubs in February 2007. Interestingly enough, the Buenos Aires Zoo was the first zoo to keep an elephant in captivity.
There is a good collection of South American animals which you may not see at other zoos, along with old favorites like lions and elephants. Some of the enclosures are quite old and could do with improvement, but there are some new sections such as the Asian animal section which are quite modern and up to date. The highlight for many people is the Madagascan Lemurs.
