Great location in Gion. Rooms are very small but the location and the good breakfast make staying in the hotel worthwhile. I'd stay again.

Wonderfully located hotel for Gion area, the pontocho, and the commercial center of town. Lots of available restaurants and a starbuck coffee for a so-so coffee instead of the terrible Japanese coffee available right downstairs. The room is larger than many Japanese hotels, the bathroom a bit too small, and not very new.

I have stayed twice at this hotel and I will return to it each time I travel to Kyoto. The main attraction for me is location because I spend a lot of time around Gion and Higashiyama. However the hotel itself is just fine for me. It is not flash by any means but it is scrupulously clean, quiet, and both times I have stayed I have had windows with lovely views (as opposed to facing another wall as has been the case with some other Kyoto hotels). A tiny fault could be hard pillows. But this time I took my own! But really, I have nothing to complain about. Staff were helpful if I needed anything and language was not a problem.

This hotel was very convenient to the local temples, old section and major bus lines which made it accessable to all sigtseeing experiences.

This hotel is in the heart of Gion with the Gion bus stop at the front door and Gion-Shijo subway just a couple of minutes walk away. The hotel is just near the eastern end of Shijo Dori near the Yasaka Shrine with many food options including a number of supermarkets nearby. Service was great - there were no people annoyingly opening and closing doors for us. This is great vlaue for the location and price. Look out for the geishas as they leave taxis for appointments.
